I start my first real job tomorrow, working at a garden centre. It's only part time, but I'm really tense about it. Really really tense.

Ugh. :(

You'll be ok. I started my first job in december. The first day or two is shaky but it's pretty smooth sailing after that. :)

yea, just takes a few days to learn the routine, but jobs are always a cakewalk after that. Another benefit of it only being your first couple days is that all mistakes are forgiven :) so yea, dont worry.

Thanks. I leave in less than half an hour.

From the title, I was expecting you to ask what tense you were using (it's the present tense).

Good luck! (now I have this dread fear all the plants are going to die and you're going to come back with this horrible story about how the Dali Lama was depending on your nursery to generate a particular herb which is required for the special meditation sessions which keep the Earth free of all the Justin Timberlake aliens threatening the human race)

Dogfood, the second half of your fear already happened... just turn on MTV.

There's no reason to be tense...

After all, what's the worst that could happen?

...oh...yeah...there is that...sorry...

No, I'm just tired, sore, and disillusioned with capitalism.

tired and you havent even started yet? haha

yep...you havent found the true meaning of tired yet. that should happen in about four years. thats when the circles under your eyes become permanent.

what, but I'm just 17 and they are already permanent :| then I don't want to know how I look when I start working.....

the true meaning of tired for me is by now going to bed at 2am and standing up at 5:45am beause I have to go to school then..... be doing this for like half a year now, and can't sleep more then 4 hours in the weekends anymore... my body isn't used to that and I just wake up :S

good luck at your job 6 :)

I had my first job about a year ago, bussing at a resturaunt.

It's kinda hard to get worse then that, I quit after 2 months because they never paid me. I got maybe 120 bucks for working there 3 days a week (Average) for 2 months straight.
Good luck dude! I was always nervous going to work.

Tired is five weeks of working mids (that's 10 PM to 7 AM or what they call the graveyard shift), then turning around and working days. That first Monday is really a bitch, especially when you're a card-carrying member of the over 40 club.

Right. Well. I've got nothing to complain about.

Must everyone in the world have suffered more than me????

Tense about starting the job. Now just tired. And upset with the realization that this is going to really (only not really, yay for 24 hour work weeks) cut into my free time which I had previously squandered.

WHY? WHY MUST THE REALIZATIONS INHERENT IN GROWING UP BE SO CRUEL???

cuz you need to be prepared for death, that's why. it's called conditioning.
