I'm still not getting the photoshop to well yet, I forgot to start with a layer so the background ended up being the thick black outlines I initially drew so its very cartoonish, not quite how I like my art.
This is just another attempt of orientating myself with the program, if u can see what I'm missing or getting right as far as possibilities with PS goes, let me know.

Looks good, I love the angsty expression in the eye. the black outlines on the critter contrast roughly with the background. maybe if you use the same colors from your lil guy instead of the stark black, it will aleviate that.

Wow. This wasn't what i expected. It's very grotesque and unusual and witty. And even with those pesky black lines, it's great. Really.

The rendering is pretty effective, but I see no hint of water anywhere. The head and the line/hook could very well be there in front of a blue background.

vitali- thanks for the work I appreciate the encouragement

nafa - your right, I need to figure out how to imply some water, maybe with some wavery areas, if you know what I'm trying to say

Thanks I'm gunna give all these suggestions a try, the casting water idea was the first thing I though would work out best. maybe some fish in the distance?

This is great! I would suggest that the lighting makes the scene a bit flat though. You might consider having both the ocean floor, and the water itself, darken as it recedes into the background. It's dark underwater, and doing that will give it a sense of distance and depth. as it stands right now you just have a horizon where the blue water and brown floor meet. in reality you wouldn't see that, underwater theres no way on earth to see all the way to the horizon. way too dark.

just some tips. great work!

Yeah, fishes would be a good idea, I'd say some corals would be nice. Some light shining down to the ocean floor would be great too, depending on how deep the setting is.
