Hey folks!
I sacrificed a whole weekend on redesigning my website, now it's much easier to navigate and I've included a section for speedpaints and quick studies. Check it out at www.mattiassnygg.com (http://www.mattiassnygg.com)
Hope you like it.
You might have seen the latest edition of the Official Playstation Magazine on the stands, the one with a The Dakness cover. I did much of the work on that one, and I'd post a picture if they'd let me... Here's a link to a tiiiiny picture tho I suspect it might not give a very good idea of what it looks like: http://www.us.playstation.com/opm.aspx
In that magazine there is quite a bit of my concept art for that game, I'll post all that stuff as soon as possible (probably after E3)
So that leaves my personal work, done at late nights and early mornings...
Here's a relatively recent piece, where I tried to take both the expressive side of things pretty far but also keep it tight in form and detail. Will probably keep investigating this dynamic for the rest of my life :P

Progress shot (better...)
http://img353.imageshack.us/img353/3301/stairwoman014ln.th.jpg (http://img353.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stairwoman014ln.jpg)
A quick study:

Both were done with photo ref.
Retarded comic strip style experiment:

And here's an older piece that I reworked just recently, making it even more disgusting than it was before:

Thanks for looking :)

Can you teach me to be awesome like you :( ?
Just astounded by the Golem cartoon, such amazing depth; edge control, colors... Got a bigger version?
Edit: Going through your site; link to "Guts" here http://www.mattiassnygg.com/tutorials/tut3.htm doesn't work anymore :(. Oh and, great job on the site btw.

Aw, I love the Golem piece! Wonderful from in the first one, too, but I kinda wish the top of her head didn't blend into the background so much...

looking forward to seeing the darkness stuff. You guys at starbreeze have been doing some intersting stuff the last years.
Now try to get Axel to post some of his stuff here. I'm guessing his art has grown a lot since joining you guys

I really like these, but the first one's head seems too big for her body. That's really my only critique and you're way beyond my level anyhow, so I'm not even sure I should make a crit :)

Your work is always so cool to look at. Always has a sculpture look to it, especially the golem comic, it looks like you molded him out of clay.

Really amazing work. Love the strokes and vibrations you create. Also, just saw a preview for 'The Darkness' and saw some of your concepts on that game. Truely awesome work! Definitely raising the bar for game concepts.

Calle, it's both Photoshop and Painter on all of these. Painter for the real work, Photoshop for cleaning up the mess.

I'm in awe. The first piece is just magnificent.

heyhey thank you all so much for your nice comments!
rWDrk, sure thing man, I'm actually working on a new tutorial right now.. But it won't be anything like the others... :swepimp:
About my education.. Like it says on the site I studied for three years in rather unprestigious schools. First one was sort of a Basic Training school called KV Konstskola (Gothenburg), where I spent one year going through all the elementary stuff. Very high tempo, learned lots and lots of things in both painting and sculpture, probably the best education I've ever had. After that first year I applied to Gothenburg School of Art (supposedly a little bit more fancy), and went there for two years.
That one was a lot more laid back and relaxed, people got a chance to try out things on their own with some help from the teachers. It was okay I suppose, because I had the time to experiment a lot, but it kind of made me fed up with art schools in general :P
Cheers everyone :)
