Not too taken by the first one but I love the chess pieces. Not just because of the way they're done or anything but why they're done; what I mean is the king as a king, so on. I know it's an old concept but I always like seeing it done well.

Yeh, im not too keen about the first image, however the second one has a nice quality to it. Pulled off some nice lighting, especially on the king figure. Not so sure about the pink patch on the front of the horse though, and i think the overall image could benefit from a little bit of blending. Apart from that, it's really nice

cheers mephistoau i appreciate the advice also the imges of the horse i used as a referance did actually have pink on it s skin apparently its part of some type of breed or somthing. i wasn't quite sure what you meant by blending though.

Doesn't matter, it's still distracting. It would be better if the horse's color was closer to the white of the base, similar to the way you handled the king's fur trim.

Not a huge fan of the first peice, it's kinda dragon ball Z meet country hick. The chess one rocks though, it's deep man, I mean phat radical. I think you shoulda blended the horse better but apart from that I like the concept behind it. Keep up the good work.

You might wanna update with art. You already received several suggestions so, we'd like to see how you improved your images by applying those. Might wanna keep this thread around to post your art in regurarly, ask a mod to move it to the sketchbooks then. This is really necrophilia, since you posted this over 4 months ago! Make something new, plz.
Your feather is nice. I don't understand the A, it's distracting me. You could check the lightning better, imo. Some shadows are too soft and unrefined, while there are some whites that seem extra sharp when not needed.
I like your chess piece. The reference really helped this image. The pink on the horse is kinda random. I wish this piece had a nice background to go with. IMO it's not totally finished yet. Maybe a checkered chessboard and a nice blue sky or something.
I do not like your first picture. It's too much 'guessed' anatomy for my liking and he seems bland. Just some boy with big gloves. As a character, i think he'll need more. Exaggerate. Give him an eyepatch, give him a bandaid, give him a scar or some weird outfit. Give him more that'll tell us about him that will make us think he's a hero or a meanie or just some innocent bystander or... whatever! I kind of like the beginning/experiment you got going in that pic on the background better then the coloring on the boy self.
I may seem a bit harsh, but since you asked for extra crits: you got them. Now go do something new.
