Whats the most creative thing you've ever made for a loved one? be it significant other, friends, parents anything. You know, a painting, sculpture, poster, something totally weird that i couldnt even fathom at the moment...anything.

i just wanted to get some ideas...clear my head of some other stuff...and just cause i was bored and decided to ask it for kicks and giggles.

I've given paintings and drawing on several occasions, though I suppose it's pretty boring by the nature of your question (no crazy experimental sculptures or anything, you know?)

Hmmm....my proposal to my fiancee.

I made it like those treasure hunts when you were a kid...or at least the ones I used to play. Went to the store and bought 12 different things (hmm 12 days of christmas anyone? ) that represented something nice that she liked. Just little things nothing big. And so I wrapped each and then gave clues for where they were around my mothers house. And when she got to where it was, unwrapped it and found a new clue she was off to find the next one and so on . The final one was a small wooden treasure chest (think white pine style box) that was inside a bigger cardboard box, which was inside another bigger cardboard box, which was inside another bigger cardboard box, etc. So when she finally got down to the last box and took out the treasure chest inside as she opened it was some of that cotton candy snow with tons of silver garland. She couldnt see what was laying there looking up at her (which was the point), until she took the garland off and stared at a silver engagement ring in a puff of white snow :)

ok for some reason it didnt e-mail me your responses. those are really sweet things to do for people. especially that proposal. I wish my bf was that romantic. ah well.

the reason why i was asking is that its my and my bf's 4 year anniversary on the 27th of this month. although things were pretty rough for awhile (as in i almost broke things up with him), i wanted to do something for him that was different and special. but i really dont know what. he isnt one for art so that makes it more diffcult cause i dont have any clues to go off of.

his favorite artist is Norman Rockwell. that i know. He's a realist through and through. meaning he likes things that depict life well...which is probably why he likes clive cussler and dean koontz novels, over my fantasy novels. he likes old cars, especialy chevelles, guns, knives...and the likes of that....and um he's a scout leader for one of the local boy scout troops...

so i was just looking to see if anyone had done something that could spark my imagination. cause i keep drawing blanks. i tried makeing an abstract piece the other day with "freedom" "giveing wings to you" "eagle" in mind...but i really didnt like it...so yeah i dunno...any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Wow, thats my birthday :D!!

I say it would be nice if you make an old car with a gun turret in your boyfriend´s scout troop colors.

In my case. the last one i did was for my mother´s birthday, i just made 3 wizards on top of a ravine, each with a different symbols and details......Kinda to reepresent me and my 2 brothers in a "indirect" way.

Good luck, at least you have plenty of time to think about what you want to do :).

umm they are kinda silly and disjointed right after one and other but ya gotta remember there are days and weeks and sometimes months between these. :)

btw, even if im not very good at it, humor is a wonderful way of touching the heart, and not everything needs to be heavy and emotional, through in some fun light stuff with that too :)

Shamagim: Well happy early birthday then!!! :D when i read your suggestion Untill i got to the part about the scout colors...i thought you meant make a car sculpture out of a gun. O.o; which sounded cool...but i was like "were the hell am i going to find the parts for that."

Redrook: i'll take a look through those links. :D i know humor is a good thing, but i'm not very good at it. once in a blue moon i'll think of something cool...but yeah.

Slash: i really dont have much expereince in this department really...outside of makeing necklaces, and bracelets. i've only done one sculpture. and i liked it, even though it was sort of amature. but yeah.

guess i'll have to think about it. :p

Another creative gift was actually for the same person. He writes constrained, 101 word short stories, and as a birthday gift I illustrated one of the stories in comic format.

those are some really nice landscapes red rook. the story is cute, although a little spacey...but i love how the text does not detract from the images. :)

I use this in many of my beginning teaching classes.

We make 4 drawing - 5 minutes each, loud music. Markers, colored pencils, quick stuff.
First drawing you make is for yourself.
Second one is for a friend. (relative, living or dead)
Third one (this one is good) you make for an enemy.
Forth one is for the world.

Nice set, making things for a reason. I had a young man in prison cry cause he never had done anything for himself.
