Hey everyone! Anyone here use sidewalk chalk? I might have an opperunity to draw on the sidewalks of Peral Street Mall in boulder Colorado. I was curious if anyone else here using side walk chalk for fun? I was curious if I can use fixatives just like pastels to layer, what do you guys and gals think?

I use chalk, have done 12 years of festivals, street painting, in CA. Santa Barbara and San Rafael are the largest. I have created 18 x 20 foot pieces. All the festivals use KOSS pastels. No fixatives. See my web site under PROJECTS.
email me for more info if needed, I can give you a few solid techniques that work.

theyre not quite like pastels though, theyre much more messy and more fun to blend.

I created a project that set a Guinness World Record for the largest chalk drawing, and created a nonprofit to continue this work. Here's more good chalk images and resources.
