Wow interesting character. How did you make the highlights ? Good old fashion way too ?
Just so you know, geoshities doesn'T allow remote linking. So people will just see a red X in your posts (and I'll bet 90 % of the time will just hit the back button. like I did at first). I know there's a trick to avoid that like changing the extention of your file like xxxxxxxxxxx.txt or xxxxxxxxxxx.htm
Keep that in mind ! it'll get you more feedback I'm sure.

As I said before: very neo-secession way.
Maybe A. Mucha would be drawing like this in XXI century?..

Just a little note that the same goes for avatar pictures... no remote linking from geoshities !

Character looks pretty good, but heres a few things. Background needs to go, the black is throwing off the whole piece. Its so strong, it makes it the focal point instead of the character. Second thing, the character feels a little stiff right now, kinda like a cardboard cut out, this is probably due to the fact that he is still basically line-art. Other then that looking good so far, keep it up!

why dont you color him? i keep getting dragged down to his legs where they are incredibly flat looking....if you added some colors to help define some things i think it would look amazing! great character so far man! keep up the awesome work

hi,

i definitely like your simplistic approach. the shape of the background doesn't bother me, i think it frames the character nicely, but mtomcat is right, the black is too much. maybe if you made it the same transparency as the writing it would work better. plus it would keep the main contrast on the figure so that it would pop a little more.

i don't think you need to color it either to make it a successful piece. remember, it isn't color that makes the picture look right, it's the values. the only reason the legs look as flat as they do is because of the highlights you have on the face and upper body. maybe if you added a touch of that to the pants they would be fine.

the biggest thing i notice is the forarm. it seems as if there is no mass to it. it there is more muscle in the forearm than what you are showing. plus with the added bulk of the wrap you have on it, it should be much thicker.

that other thing that bothers me is the way it's cropped. i would try and include the feet next time. or maybe just crop it a little highter, mid thigh, instead of right about the knees. cropping right at, right above or right below is kind of hard for the eye.

that's all for technique stuff, as for the actuall design for the piece, what's with the bullets? it doesn't really fit everything else. he's got a sword over his shoulder and no sign of a gun anywhere, yet he has bullets that would fit in a gattling gun. i'm all for the mixture of swords and firearms, but make sure it all fits. maybe make the cape a little shorter on that side and draw his right hand hold a giant hand cannon. that would make more sense.

hope this helps.
