March 18th, 2006, 08:31 AM
and some more
the more recent stuff will follow over time

nice weapon studies, nice marker work (at least it looks like marker work to me)...but there are still some problems with proportions n anatomy, would be easy to improve with the use of some books (guess who? loomis! :D)
March 18th, 2006, 12:48 PM
Good start, I really like the marker drawings. As The Gnoll already said do anatomy and proportion studies - IMO the knowledge of anatomy will help one make better and more believable monsters ;)
Cheers, good stuff, keep them coming :teeth:
March 21st, 2006, 10:10 AM
fooxoo and Gnoll, Thanks for the advice (the worst vice, eh Pacino?)
Yeah, that anatomy of mine could use some work, i'll just keep at it, note that it was some pretty old stuff, always trying to improve, but wanted to post history first.
From here on, more recent stuff will be posted, guess it's not a good location to post finals hm?
more later on,
March 21st, 2006, 12:21 PM
jeez.Really, this is the kind of stuff people love to see in a sketch book! These last three pics really look good (especially the man's head and woman study).More stuff like this is really nice to see ;)
March 21st, 2006, 12:26 PM

I see that u tried all the sort of drawing tehniques (perspectives, ink, color pencil etc.). The only one u missed is digital painting. U should try that too. I think that u would do good at it.
March 22nd, 2006, 12:41 PM
Oh, hehe, erm, yeah, didn't really consider posting it yet, tried it though.
Just an afternoon sketch from a few weeks ago.
March 24th, 2006, 06:48 AM
A quick painter/photoshop wacom drawing, wanted to improve on my straight lines and test the colorshifts when using pens in painter.

Here's a lineup of some creatures that I made for a schoolproject that can be played here,
it's in dutch so, might be a bit frustrating for the instructions are not understandable. Also did the modelling and animations for all the creatures and the main character.
Edit: this post was fairly too large, so i put most of it in url form
the main character:
and the creatures, 50 % didn't make it into the game.. :'(
sorry for the immense size 50k ppl, didn't find much time to resize (gawd i hate doing that. :P)
post some crits, always welcome.
March 27th, 2006, 09:15 AM
Here's a submission for a one on one battle i had with Thrillzilla in the thunderdome area, lost though... oh well better luck next time.
more to come, Jaļn

Wooow that's one nicely filled sketchbook you got there!!!
Nice to see a great amount of interesting and imaginitive concepts here. Impressive. I like the joker hand monster :D that one is great and the dwarf skeleton armor guy and the weapons are also impressive... and ... and .....
But now for the bitching part :x :
you could put some more work into some of the color. There is also lot of black usage, especially in the brown creatures. Try and bouncelight some light from the floor onto it's body, it will give the creatures more depth.
Also try and polish the textures a bit in the creatures so they are not so obvious textures (but I can unerstand you were udner a tight deadline).
Also the pencil lines make the creatures look a bit crusty, a nice sharp lining could make it look more as a whole.
But that's just me bitching, all and all great stuff :D

Thanks for the kudos and kritters,
those textures on the creatures were indeed a bit rough, all those were done in one weekend, not a lot of time. 28 creatures in one weekend, damn, should keep that up :D
I need to work on refining my line art once more. I used to intimately cherish and polish it, but i kind of lost that when working with deadlines and reference drawings. I did some digital painting tonight, wanted to post it up for crits, the first one was done a while actually. from photoref

Nice stuff. I love the portrait of your girlfriend with the butterflies in your portfolio. The font you used in the TwoDee, ThreeDee, and FourDee buttons makes the "e" hard to read. Though I do have a 1600x1200 resolution.
May 22nd, 2006, 04:23 AM
Medium Pace: Thanks, and about the font.. have to work on that typography thing a lot.. all autodidactic for that matter. Thanks for the advice
and for the sake of completeness i'll post the Mucha inspired piece here too.
May 22nd, 2006, 08:11 AM
veeeeeery interesting and odd shapes you got.
i'm impressed by the odd shapes and forms the most!
June 27th, 2006, 08:22 AM

June 30th, 2006, 07:56 AM
Very nice stuff, I really can see that you are improving fast. I love to be the withness of that process. So keep updating!!!
November 28th, 2006, 11:49 AM
Here are some sketches from the recent conceptartmeeting november 24th, so check it out and crit away. It's been a first for me to actually get a model to pose, aside from people in the train going about their business, so thought it was pretty good practise, and had a great time in the meanwhile.
laters, got to update this more, been busy, ngargh.
January 2nd, 2007, 09:45 PM

February 27th, 2007, 01:58 PM

I made a t-shirt for my girlfriend Suze
looks like this:
September 11th, 2007, 04:07 AM
Cool design for the shirt, and it would be great to see you posting some more :D
December 21st, 2007, 06:21 PM
It was nice to meet you in the train :teeth:, we babbled too much about me though, how are you doing? Are things going well with Soepel?
I'd like to see some more sketches in here still.. The t-shirt for Suze looks really nice.. One little thing: I think making the sun a bit bigger would've made the face easier to read.
That Suze sign is really cool.. Now she can do the "handstand" and look in the mirror, and read the same name! ^^ :P, no but really, nice design :)
So.. I'd like to order an update with some news here pretty please? :teeth:
