wow i can tell this will be an amazing month allready,
rusty, its honest and real, with just enough of your stlye to make it your own, the light source you are using looks a little mutted, try experimenting with different light bulb temperatures and different intensities of brightness. you are looking close enough to be able to appreciate the subtle changes in color value and texture.
lionel
ive waited a long time to see how you would apply the artistic growth that your daily sp's were building up. great work. i applaud your ambition.

it seems if i try anything more complicated than this it goes all to shit. this isnt a recent thing but lately i feel i make even less progress. i have no ability to render and i constantly am asking myself if its my lack of ability or am i just using the program wrong.

Thanks for taking the time to crit Mr Jones, much appreciated,ya my light sorce keeps on changing shouldve set up a lamp from the beginning,ah well.
ah return of Lionel, totally kick ass SP man...is that that Napoleon or something painting?..ive seen it somewhere, just cant remember.
Looks straight out of Resident evil there Nardfrog,excelent...
Maybe make it even more gross?..
Some nice details there otbot,I like where those feet r heading,.maybe just work em a bit more?..i dunno..
Jhibbs..yeah,same prob here m8,until i started just doing my own style, forgetting anything i may have picked up through artworks/artists that i admire..(like the way Jim lee draws eyes,Joe mad draws mouths/chins/hands,Gabe Pernas sculptures ,list goes on forever..)..Ive actually made huge improvements just by doing that...words from a Bruce lee doco "Unlearn what you have learned"...if that makes any sence..
sorry for the slack crits people..

john: great sp! now try thinking about how to incorporate the background to give mood and contrast. also, i would like to see you handle your ear with the same care you handled your face. very nice!
jhibbs: very good structure going on there. looks great!
bloodstone: i havent been around the sp boards too much lately, but i havent seen you around yet. awesome sp! i really like the palette you used. the way you use simple strokes to describe form is great (shirt, hand, hair). you need to post more! ahhh, gotta love girl artists, heh.
2 portraits i did yesterday. first one is in oils. kinda messed up on the arms and stuff...maybe i will go back. i ended up painting this one very fast with really visceral strokes. ive been having a really hard time in my life right now, and everything seems to be on the downside. i guess that emotion powered my strokes in this one. painting the face was very emotional for me. the second one is caran dache, i dont really like this one very much. i think i will stick to oils. only one more portrait to go by wednesday!

Sorry this one took so long comming but has been a very bad few weeks as far as my art is concerned as this one is proof of. Here are some reply to my earlier post that I should have made and awefully long time ago :/.
Android: Thanks for the comments. You are the one who started this whole mad escapade :). I owe you more for the inspiration than I can express in words. Kinda cheesy I know but it is the truth.
Rusty: The painting is of napoleon an and is by David.
Grooveholmes: Thanks for the comments. It was nice to have a bit of a change of style :).
Sorry I don't have time to reply more but I have to run to bed or I will not get up in time for work tommorow ;). To the rest of you keep up the good work there is soo much good stuff this month :).
P.S. Darken love the oils. If you are still looking to make some money in a cinical type fashion try doing some paintings of flowers as they aparently sell well and go round lot of small shops and try and get them to sell them. We have a local florist who sells pictures by local artists. Just a sugestion.

Andrew Jones, this one is for you. You've changed my life since I started doing these back on September 22nd of 2002. Ever since then my life has dramatically changed and I have you to thank. Without the inspiration you gave, I don't think I'd be where I'm at today artistically. Thank you and congratulations on the 365 mark.

I just got a tablet for the first time today. :) Looking forward to learning this great procedure for producing art!
I figured it'd be fitting for my first real tablet drawing to be a self-portrait.
Comment/Suggestions are GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

No pic for me today (way too bussy) but i have to reply to this!
I am amazed by retro - can you guys see how he's going on new paths?
but first - signatre - try to work the form first - measure - look for your proportions. Try a B&W approach - use a strong light and measure. You're on the good path.
retro - buddy - you are walking on the gold path - try to check your values.
Here - i tried to work around it -
1 - is the original
2 - original in B&W - see? your valuea range is not too wide.
3 - more contrast
4 - b&W ver. of 3
5 - more tunning - hue, sat, etc - and 6 - B&W version.
Ofcourse it is all bounded to the mood you're after - but i still think a more wide value range will help.
Keep on rockin'
Sorry for not replying on the WWII thing. Just give me more time - i'm so busted here.
News on the robo? :D

One thing Ive learned from my, albeit short, experience, is that getting a good pencil sketch for your self portraits at first can be very helpful. Just try to get a good outline of your face and facial features, and once youve got that try some BASIC shading just to provide some simple definition of forms. Once youve gotten better at that, then move on to the computer, and color etc...
This may not be the best thing to do, but it has really helped me.

My eraser fell on the ground during this one and i really couldn't find it anymore...weird.
I also have no respect for proportions or shades...proportions are better then usual i think :/?
I hate the shading

That's it, I just gotta say it. Everybody here rocks! the support is so amazing and the dedication and effort put into all of these is great. My only true media is pencil so I really like seeing what can be done with what is out there, thx everybody.

Wow been a while, not keep up like I should . .
Pheep - try using the edge of the pencil to get big strokes, and don't be afraid of obscuring things to get the right values!
Scratched Glass - lovening it! full color's cool to though :)
swampbug- interesting technique there, the second is solid!
clayrodery v.03 intersting, very hard edges, soft is nice too ;)
Oblio - looks solid, make sure you get the brow above the eyes solidly, that will give you the eye shape.
retro - nice! love to see more :)
Black hawk as always, the effort shows, but I trully wish for you more time to paint!!
mtmckinley great to see you here! I remember your toon on cgtalk, very simular :) (been too long since I've posted there) One comment would be to try and address sharpness & flat planes in your face, everyone has em :) Some cooler desaturated colors can always ballance a peice out as well.
I've rather forgteen what this one looks like: think I screwed up the jaw, who knows:
