Yeah! Who is your sexy lady friend there? I like you're pieces, but the first one seems as though his center of gravity is off. Looks as if he's going to the right. Our right of course.:)

Woah, kinda creapy, why don't you talk about the concepts of those people some, cause I really don't understand them just from the drawings. Really great rendering style.

Dustin,
this explanation is for you,

The blue guy is a monster who is like a gaurdian of an evil place, and he is about 8.5 feets tall and runs about 26mph.

The girl was a human turned into experiment by the guy who created the blue mosnter.
The girl's name is Zenothorp and the guys name is Vorsiforus.
The dogy is a monster with a homing beacon on his head and it is also a radio control device.

May 2nd, 2003, 02:44 AM
thanks davi, I definately spent the most time on the blue guy, the others where more sketchy; the dog i did straight in the computer no pencils or nothing so its not as strong.
All these characters are from last year cause ive been doin other shit but im gerring back into a grove spo hopefully shit will start picking up for the nardblaster.

my god, beautiful work, very clean, one crit... on your ocean platform, the filter you used for the ocean doesnt work, its perspective is thrown completely off. flattens the 3d image.
great work Nardfrog!!!

nardfrog
May 2nd, 2003, 04:43 PM
yeah i noticed that about the filter also, but i was just to lazy to do anything about it.

Laziness is no excuse for poor design. But then again nobody is paying me for this so i can do what ever the hell i want.

Hmm, thanks for the explanation, the tech goesn't seem similar enough to bridge between the guy and the girl, IMO. And why aren't her nipples ripped off? Cyborgs don't need clothes apparantly. I know, I know, who cares, it looks good:)

Clodhopper
May 2nd, 2003, 11:52 PM
hey, I too prefer chicks with their nipples still attached.

cool stuff.

cyborg zombie chick is creepy. Is the water in the enviro shot rendered or a filter?

nardfrog
May 3rd, 2003, 03:32 AM
thanks, i just drew some simple water with basic reflections on its own layer and then applied the glass filter in the distortions filter pallet. I had to play with it a little, but I didnt put much effort into the whole thing so the perspective is a bit off. I should have used the transform function to get some perspective but im too lazy  :(

would you mind if i modeled the two characters <low poly> at the end, just for practice sake? email me at painiac@comcast.net

They seems to have a very sleek easy to model simplistic humanoid form, and I hav'nt done much texture work, since they are pretty simple tones and such, it would be interesting to see. I' dont promise perfection, but it would be nice to work on some excellent concept work for a change instead of my scribbles.

this stuff is cool....I see a lot of adrian carmack doom/quake influence in the bloody/mecha-humanoids, and they are my favourite out of the bunch. The legs on the middle guy are fantastic...great rendering. His mask(?) looks a little plain though...like it needs something more. You might want to add a bit more variety in there skin tone as well with some warmer colors. anyways, nice work.

Hey I shoot for the best, when i saw some of those concepts for doom III my jaw hit the floor and a tear rolled down my cheek. As for the blue guy, i really wanted his skin to look dead so i steared away from warm hues. And his mask is plain i agree but its supost to be metal. Thanks for the crit illl keep what you said in mind on my futuere works.

Thanks everyone. On the first guy, those are horns on his helmet not ears, but hey, you thought they looked cool so its all good. About the cool hues, I try to stay with blues and grays to give a dead feeling do this stuff, adds to the creepiniess if you ask me.

I'll post more soon.

URL pleeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeee! *drool*

BTW - very nice work, tho heavily influenced.

nardfrog
May 5th, 2003, 03:49 AM
Err yeah, I think all art influences everyone, Giger was influenced by Dali, Dali was influenced by that guys name that starts with a B and so on and so forth. If anyone said they werent influenced by other artists, they are a lyar.

BTW - who are you ensinuating influenced me?

I mean I love Giger, and the Quake seires and most sci-fi shit, but but who do YOU think, heavily influenced me?

Im not going to school right now, i got my AS and left. I wasnt learning shit for what I was paying. A lot of it has to do what with you put in yourself though. Most stuff I learned at school I learned on my own time. Thats how It goes. I went to Brooks College, stear clear of there at all costs. If you can afford it go to Art center, Ringling, Chicago Art Institute (not related to the others) or Rhode Island school of Art and Design. Savana Design school seems good if you live in the south.

I have no idea *who* influenced you, it's just that these characters have been done similarily in Doom, Quake 2. I don't mean that in a bad sense - I love what you did - I'm saying it's apparent though.

Yeah kinda hard to listen to you when your website is Nudeafrica.com and your location is my moms panties.

How about some advice to make it not so "dry"

when i saw this thread, i just had to take a second look at the doom3 concept art. :)

your artwork has some great lines, but are a little lacking in things that stick out. i have the problem myself.
can't seem to figure what to put there.
those colours reminds me a lot of the ones used on the
big white beast present in quake1 (by damn i forgot the name!!!)
