Just wondering with all this talent on the boards on this site what does everybody do, as in career or what do you want to do?
I want to be a concept artist and i am trying hard to try lots of techniques and doing alot of life studys. I,m only 17 so i have alot to learn first but i,m studying a level art at the moment.
The figure is one of the goals i,m trying to accomplish at the moment, its so hard to perfect. whats your most difficult task at the moment?

I'm 19, i work my ass off serving tables in a bar everyday. then i come home and draw until my teeth stop grinding...I'm working towards getting into college. soon as i can pay off the car repairs I'm out. -I got a helluva lot to prove to everyone and alot of pride to redeem with my talent.
I'm going into CG animation at Fullsail.

wow. i'm old. like, been-around-the-block-a-few-times old.
i'm an illustrator and a painter, and although i make my living with Photoshop, making digital paintings is relatively new to me. so i'm here to learn from people who are actually doing it, and doing it well.
it's really inspiring to see so much enthusiasm for this stuff which requires solid foundation in drawing and painting.

I've been in the business for about 11 years and do storyboards, concept art, art direction, film direction and script writing.
I'm 34.

hi vader,
keep doing what you're doing!! it will pay off sooner or later. you probably have heard that line before but i'm going to say it again. the least it'll do is teach you how to work hard. it's so important to do that itself. don't get distracted by anything unimportant because it'll waste your time. in the same way, never take yourself too seriously, you won't have any fun.
i'm 20, i'm mostly a 3d modeller/texturer at a game company, and am going to art school earning my bachelor's. though production is the job, i draw and paint in my spare time and eventually i want to be an art director, painting pretty concepts when not running around trying to inspire people. hm that sounds kind of weird but it's my goal anyway. let someone else do most of the technical work while i push things around. i do love solving technical problems, not all the time.
right now my most difficult task is managing my time between school and work, it's inherently unhealthy; i have to schedule free time so i don't go insane. more specifically, i never get enough sleep so i sleep in a lot :D gotta fix that.
i miss the complete pursuit of working to get into the field, and i sometimes catch myself being lazy now that i do art for a living. but then remind myself that i still have a long ways to go before i get to where i want to be. i'm lucky to work with people who are at the top of their field, and are where i want to be, to freak me out about what i have to work on in order to make it. and i will have to, but i'm lucky to work with people who are truly inspiring and insane at the same time.
keep on keepin on,
- l

i'm currently 23, been drawing and doing art for maybe 3 years now, still learning a lot. i try to sketch and create as much as possible. i'm living at home, working at a high school and in my free time i'm tryin to put a good portfolio together so that i can get accepted to Gnomon School of Visual Effects. i suppose if i don't get accepted i'm following what Clodhopper is doing by goin to Full Sail. definately gonna get myself into 3d animation. i think its a great way to get exposure to ever facet of story telling, from conceptual stages, storyboards to cinematography and story telling. i'm pretty excited to get back into school!

Oh, we're in the same boat! I'm 18 and I work my ass off at a local rental place though. I plan to go to a community college and get my core classes out of the way, then transfer to RSAD for computer animation. (I was supposed to go this year, and last year, ha) I'm also paying off car repairs and I still need a new alternator. Stupid Buick. :(
PS I'm sticking to life studies too for the time being.

I'm 20 and work my ass off at McDonalds (fun times LOL). I went through a year of schooling at Digipen Institute of Technology for 3d animation and realized that I liked everything except the animation... I really liked modeling and texturing and LOVED doing the concept art and storyboarding. Going to that school was really demanding... with 12 hour days/5-6 days a week... so I know how it'll be having an actual job at a game company. But this wasn't a job and it consumed ALL my time, so I had no time for a social life or for a real job, and I ran outta money :(
Anyway, now I'm just working hard to pay rent and bills while taking classes at Pierce College (community college) every now and then to someday get a degree. I'm also working on a comic book that already has a publisher's attention. I do some freelance work here and there and work on my conceptual art so I can build a portfolio and possibly get a job at a gaming company in WA (preferably around the seattle area).
