Ok, I posted a character a while back and I think everyone agreed the actual concept needed some work. My friend Dmoney and I woked on some different ink sketch variations, focusing on the character's silhouette(does the character look cool and recognizable blacked out) armor variations, and some weapon ideas.

Some things I wanted to keep from the original was a skull headpeice with a protruding torch which comes from a creature he hunts. I also very much liked the chains hanging of his mid-section, I thought it would be practical for climbing beasts, and stabbing things plus I have not seen it done and thought it was sort of original. The houla twine material was another thing I liked for originality reasons and cause it can create an interesting silhoutte.
We also brought the skirt and chains much higher up on the body which we both liked much better. Other than that I think we came up with some better concepts than what I orinally had, and I now I would like your help with deciding what should make the final cut.

After I chose one of two solid designs I will move into color studies, the from there I hope to have a better character to paint up.

Ok, let me know what you think are the best. Torch Armor, Spikes, skulls,fur,weapons?etc.. and any comments/crits on anything will be very appreciated!

These are the first concepts Dmoney and I made.

The ones I like the most so far but not sure about metal torches on armor, one, two, none?

This is a quick sketch of a beast he might be fighting.

good to see you developing this. You're on a good track too. I don't quite see the practical purpose of a chain skirt but it works well as a visual device. It'd be good to you you take the weapons and armor a step further. I see you've already pushed it a bit. Keep going. You have a backstory for him and I suggest you take advantage of that as much as you can. Think of different ways you can incorporate visual indicators of his personal story such as tattoos, scars, trophies and cues as to what country/culture he's from or where he's supposed to be now.

The creature looks good as well, but the same ideas might apply here as well. What more can be done to connect him to the mythology of Baphomet?

Keep it up.

Thanks for the helpful comments as always Exo. In my mind the practical purpose of the chain skirt is to thrust the spikes at the end of the chains into the flesh of huge beasts and other materials like rock, thus freeing up the characters other hands for other things like stabbing, climbing and soforth.

Umm, I agree with you about the armor and weapons they do need a bit more pushing (weapons in particular) but if you don't mind can you let me know what you think about the shoulder armor torch things on some of the designs. Do you like any of the current armor designs etc? Glad you liked my new baphomet sketch, I'll push it more "character wise"any mythology wise, but I like the porportions and scale.

Also as far as tying the character into my story some more, he will have scars, bandages, Templars iconography like medevil seals and such and I read that the church accused the knights templar of tatooing crosses on the bottoms of their feet so that they are constantlly trampling the cross, metaphorically and physically. I may choose to incorporate this instead of the "shocking"(not realy at all) inverted cross. On the other hand maybe it is best to not include any so direct anti-christian iconography. I'll see what works I guess but my characters hatred of the church is not the only reason for his being and only one point in his character ark. So yeah more comments please if ya have time. Hope I'm making sense I trying to model his head right now and I have a long night ahead of me. Yipee.

Looks like you've already decided that the armor is gonna be shoulders + belt, have you considered alternative armor set ups?

Yeah, my main thing is though, I want a very brutal, barbaric look to this character because he starts off in full Christian Crusader gear so for his second look he should only have the battered remains of his templar gear with a more stripped down, violent, if not evil look.Any Suggestions? Maybe no shoulder armor, I don't know.No belts. I have not drawn belts. I know my ink is messy though, only metal peices and strapless leather missing buckles.ha

i like the thumbnails the best although the developed ones were good. I drew up some concepts of agares last week, you should look at them, i changed up his skirt thingy and modified his weapons. either way, good shit!

Ok, I did a few wacom studies and this is the one I like the most at the momment. I went in a new direction and made him less naked. His armor is refferenced from medevil and trojan general muscle armor. No other reffernces were used except for the legs. I havent added in the chains yet but they will hang down from the metal gurdle thingy around his waist. Also if I want a heavy necklace like my original version it will have a place to rest.

I plan on makeing him a bit slimer,so he's not busting out of the armor as much and so he looks more agile. More surface detail will be added as well. Let me know what you think, any crits always welcome!
