View Full Version : Need some "Jester" Crits

hey guys, ive been working on a portfolio site and im trying to get a self titled piece finished (Just artwork that relates to the site name). This is what i did, but i honestly hate it with a passion, dunno what it is, but i need help with this.

imo, everything looks so dirty, just wish i could clean things up a bit but im not sure how. Right now im just using photoshop CS and a regular mouse. I should be getting my wacom tablet come monday though. Any form of crit can help, please, i need it!

Try to think about light sources. That sky in the background could be used. The lighting from the front needs to be worked on. Right now there's a (in my eyes) weird contrast of lighting on the jester's head as opposed to the rest of the area.

ahhh im an idiot. Thats what i get for drinking too much.

Thank you, what i need to do is bring the colour source from the clouds onto the foreground. Get some highlighted teals and purples in there. Thanks a bunch! :)

It might just be my monitor, but I generally find it very dark, and a lot of the details are hard to see. Lightening the whole thing up a bit might help, I can't see what's going on in the background.
Also, as he has no hips at all, his head seems overly large and wobbly. I love his head, btw, creepy jesters are a personal fave. Because the res tof his body is so narrow, he looks like he's tipping over to me. Maybe balancing out the bottom of his body a little more?
