That post you made in the lounge is pretty mind-blowing.
Im absolutely saving it into my little folder of work-related jargon, it seems like veeerry useful info.
Your work is looking really good too man. I noticed you added me on MSN too the otherday, Im pretty busy atm (your probably just as busy too!) but it would be awesome to chat with you sometime.
Keep up the hardwork, I hope all the freelance stuff pulls through for you.

Cool piece! I'd like to see some more separation between mid- and foreground on the left side. And maybe some more definition on the guy on the bike, but I realize it was a quick piece, and that it's just nit picks, so keep at it, would like to see some more pencils! :)

I don't think I've ever commented here before, but have always admired your stuff from afar. You have some mad painting skills, and your values are pretty solid.
I just feel however that you should put your nose to the grindstone and seriously brush up on you anatomy and figure work. I hate to say it, but your figures even from ref are a level below your environments and other stuff. Just something to think about.
If you have the time, I would love for you to drop by my sketchbook and share some tips.

yeah i like that last update. and i'd have to agree with Andrew. the figures are lagging behind, but nothing you can't fix with your dedication. keep pushing yourself and you'll be fantastic. ;]
also take breaks from work. don't drive yourself to death. you'll start hating art and find excuses to NOT do it. take breaks, enjoy nature, jump in the snow, etc. keep it up brotha!

10-15 min studies:
Andrew Sonea
January 20th, 2011, 05:59 PM
Nice studies! I like the second one a lot. The first one is a little weaker--has some proportion issues (leg too long) and the fact that it isn't very saturated (especially when placed next to the second drawing) means that it looks a bit dead.

thanks guys! i'll be streaming again in an hour or so! :)
just thought I'd share this.
made my own 19" cintiq in 40 minutes or less. for 49$ or whatever the tablet costed.
http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m572/will_bjork/Photoon2011-02-07at0146.jpg
obviously there are already how to do it guides on the net as most may already know.. but they complicate stuff a lot ;)
i just
- got my grandpas old dell monitor which he didn't liked because of the color
- stripped it so that there were only the metal-back of it left, the electric components attached to the metalchassi, the plastic pad underneath the lcd, the lightpad (made of some sort of plastic or glas) and the LCD itself + the LED lights.
-stripped my wacom, (really easy, they are a bit fragile though, and do not have the monitor or the usb on while doing this),
- put the wacom component underneath the lightpad, and reinforced it with the back of an 9x12 bristol pad (haha)
-put everything back together! :)
-experiment with the layering from the lightpad to get a good signal and made sure there werent to much electrical interference.
-use the wacom driver to map the tablet correctly to the monitor.
-Done!
and again.. will be streaming later tonight, so join at http://justin.tv/fruitconcept if you're interested in seeing my approach to painting environments / doodling etc.. :D
thanks!

You sir, are insane.
I seems possible, and easy to do, but I dont think I could EVER come to taking apart both my wacom and a monitor.
Congratulations, cant wait to see what you can do with it.
How well are you finding that the movement maps properly to the screen? is it always directly underneath where your pen is?

Congratulations, cant wait to see what you can do with it.
How well are you finding that the movement maps properly to the screen? is it always directly underneath where your pen is?
Cool stuff man.
works perfectly! i didn't even need to change the .dat files to get a correct mapping, the monitor is really crappy though (too dark and probably 8+ years)
so its not flawless.. will try to build a more proper version later this month, cause this worked a lot better than i thought it would do, and I didn't fry my monitor this time (by being really stupid and leaning the monitor towards a radiator, touching the electrical components) :D haha,
thanks guys!

hope your new found invention works for many, many years. that's an expensive playground you're playing on, though i'm sure it's worth it so you can see what you're painting. now show us some work you've done with it!

I'm liking this one, but feel it is suffering a bit from something...I am pretty sure it is that my eye is stuck between two focal points--the rocky crevice and the grasses on the right. I think it is mostly an edges issue, so if you sharpen the rocks and soften the grasses I think it will all really click into place.
Anyways, it still is awesome looking. We should sketch together/talk again soon (although I may not be on for a few days as my keyboard is broken and typing by clicking on an onscreen one isn't fun and is fucking with my wrist).

I also cleaned out my old computer, and threw some of the files i had saved in my wips/scrapyard folder together in one image as I was deleting psd's. Most of those are from my most inactive art-period (2010) some are from this year.. I bet you can't tell which xD I need to go study now.. hahaha also sorry if you've seen a lot of those already :C be happy i haven't decided to scan all the latest crap i've done :D.. yet

Great improvements on your end man, good seeing your growth from when I last browsed through your SB. Anyway, I sent you an e-mail about a project proposition. Let me know if you got it.
