THE PHOTO CHALLENGE - "City Life"

READ THE RULES!

The point of the challenge is to take a picture that the viewer associates with the given topic.

regard less of the definitions of the topic in a dictionary.
any picture can be entered.
it is up to the pol to decide what picture is best associated with the topic

The Rules:
1. only one picture per contestant

2. no previously used material

3. the winner of the last poll will set the next topic; if the same person stands as the winner two times in a row, he or she must choose another user to present the next topic

4. enhancements of the picture (hue/saturation and levels) are allowed, but a minimum of Brushing etc.

5. no voting for your own picture

6. the challenge starts Monday, poll opens Friday and closes Sunday. the winner starts a new post on the photo forum that is named
"The Photo challenge - the chosen topic"

7. the poll shall be opened Friday morning

8. In the event of a tie in the polls, the person who created the challenge casts the tie breaking vote

9. the winner has until 18:00/6:00 pm (GMT +2) Monday, after he or she has won to present the next topic, if the winner fails to do so. the topic will be presented by the 2nd place person on the poll

here she is. found this tiny civilisation in a crevice of a tree, about 5 foot off the ground. i thought it looked cool. especially some of the closer up stuff, but its not very city like so i cant post it here. anyway;

Great photo's everyone, my vote goes to Reefrog though, no contest IMO. Nice shot reef, (interesting as one of my nicknames is reefy [has nothing to do w/ weed]) I like the feeling and i love how you captured city life (the whole city really) but with such a beautiful foreground. It's the kind of picture you just love to look at, even if you walked by it everyday.

i love it now that we've got alot of people entering, looking at the instense variety all for the same seemingly limited topic. its really cool. i love seeing other cities too. we dont even have a subway here! :P

Well seeing as it doesn't look like I'm on the path to victory...I might aswell spill the beans. My picture had been previously posted about a year ago...I hoped it had been forgotten, but aparently not which is a good thing. But I did do some minor alerations in photoshop...so its new in a way.

Anyways I'm really impressed with all the entries it was a tough choice to decide who got my vote. A nice variety of pictures. Hopefully next weeks topic brings out even greater pictures.

btw cartoon fox, your picture would be much better without the purple handle and mis aligned walls in the foreground. Get rid of those and your picture is 3x better!

@ andres_pad that's strange that other people can see it, I've tried two browsers now and still no luck. What are you using to host your image? That new one doesn't load for me either.

i was torn between sharpshooter's and fox's pics.
i voted sharpshooter for a few reasons
one is that is shows a great flow of life, actual life. plus architecture. also it didn't directly show people as the main subject but more of extra elements in the photo. great picture

my crits in general, remember to think about the topic in a general sense, not just specifics right off the bat. i think it may be a little unfair though since "city life" can be described by so many things in so many ways, so many different perspectives. it could consume many years of your life to describe "city life" in all of its elements and aspects, and many of you have caught certain specifics that are really quite enjoyable to see :teeth:

ps: shame playmobil, old picture *shakes finger* :P

My idea was to get a kid playing with bocks, so like a block city and then the kid as the life. But, I didn't get home until after the poll had started. :(
I pretty much agree with Injection on his comments. And i think its safe to say sharpshooter won?
