For all the hard working people out there thinking every morning before leaving home for their demeaning, stupid, life-sucking work ... rope or shotgun how should I do "IT" ;)
There is hope ...

I find it too colorful on the inside :)
But I like the whole society of people they created there - hell if you can get a haircut on the spot, that's just amazing. Dunno why but it reminds me of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.

I was just waiting to see some ommpa loompas around the place. Pretty cool though. I wonder what exactly they all do anyways.

My hope is to one day create my own company with the same enviroment, if not better. I would love to create a place where my workers couldn't wait to come to work. :)

At first it looks good. But in the end you just spend more time around the same people. It's too much of a "perfect-micro-city" in my opinion. By making all these things free they are reducing the value of getting the hair cut somewhere outside. Having a good working enviroment and (probably) getting even more money because the company doesn't have to pay for all that "luxury" sounds better to me. An enviroment like this seduces the people slowly to spend more time at work. More freedom is better than more goodies.

Good point, but when i was at ubisoft montreal, the embience was something like tha, you feel you are in a big community, you are part of a group, they take care of you, but i quit cause i was not sure if it was for me (and to work on SIN city to ;) ). But now, i will problably want to go back.

http://www.time.com/time/photoessays/2006/inside_google/This is basically "Public Relations 101." Companies plant these positive, warm & fuzzy and sometimes quirky stories in major news outlets when their image has taken a beating. In Google's case they took their public thrashing over their recent decision to build in censorship into their search engine in China.

I wouldn't mind the pool table, but the chairs in their cafeteria look really uncomfortable.. I can't beleive that they get payed to play with kids toys... when it looks like it :P.

I 2nd that point, although it has to be noted, in order to create that warm fuzzy "dream environment" image to present to the world, they have to have something to work on. In their case, I believe they are really there....just how often does the employees get to use those facilities is another story....just as how hard they have to work when not playing.
I'm not that ambitious. I'm content with a little sweat shop with 4-5 guys working in close relation with each other allowing lots of space for impromtu brainstorm sessions. Of course I have to be in the middle of the mix. I won't feel like part of the gang if I don't suck mud with the troops.
