here are some ballet gestures that I did when I barged into a class.. it was an entirely different ecperience from your typical life drawing session. They were all moving all the time so I had to memorize where everything went and drew really quickly

Critiques are always welcome! BREAK ME BREAK ME!!!!!

These types of comments always seem to come from people who are truly devoted artists. I commend your eagerness :).

This stuff is all really great! Try to get more imaginative with the subject matter. Nothing really caught me off guard, conceptually. Love the ornate lady from memory. As far as your life studies go, your hatching is really interesting; however, your figures might work better as a whole if you hatch a light base tone early in the drawing (rather than noodling from part to part, which is what seems to be the case). Once you get the lights and shadows blocked in, you can noodle the shit out of it. You do a great job of seeing around the form, so I think starting this way will help speed up your drawings. Great gestures by the way. Keep it up bra' :).

Hi sfumato:

I'm liking your pencils the figure studies. Your work makes me want to push harder. the only thing is that some scans are showing up too light. other than that, keep it comin'.

Heey there, when i first saw the thread called first post, i've braced myself for one of those threads where u see a lot of random wierd doodles made by amators (like me :)). But entering here, i must say that your first posts are really great. I really like that super hero guy, very very nice. How long have u been drawing?

sfumato
March 13th, 2006, 03:47 PM
bhanu - I really dont know why i waited that long, just didnt feel good about posting craptastic work so i waited. Im never satisfied anyways so i said what the hell, its now or never right? Its funny that photobucket killed some of my life drawings cause there was nudity. I guess i cant post my life drawings in there anymore, eventhough they are just drawings.

T-Raktor - Sorry, but i cant see which super hero guy you're referring to but i appreciate the generous compliment. To answer your other question, ive been drawing on and off since i was very young. I knew that I loved doing it but my parents forced me to be the shool nerd kid so it kinda killed that a bit. During that time ove only drawn a little bit sporadically until two years ago when i finally went to art school in the US. Ive been drawing since then, which is about 2 years... Just lots of hard work and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, and getting your work beat up by as many people possible.

Till next time, still have to scan my new work... well see!
