Anybody else like Martial Arts Flicks? Have you seen any of these by Tony Jaa?
Tom Yum Goong
Ong-Bak
His fighting style is Muay Thai & he has some incredibly sick moves. The movies are over the top in true martial arts fasion, but have great cinematography and are a blast to watch. I like a good Jet Lee and Jackie Chan movie, but this is the guy I would want backing me up in a street fight.

saw some older ones recently. Master Killer (aka the 36th chamber of Shaolin) was awesome
I don't count it as a martial arts movie by any means, but the hallway fight scene in Old Boy practically had me in tears

yeah, I saw both the Jaa flix. i thought the second one was better. He did some serious crazy shit in that movie. the water scene when he was fighting that capoeira dude was good. But, when he fought those huge dudes.. That was too far fetched but, great to watch.
Dave- I like those old school kung-fu flix too. I just saw a movie called the deciples of master killer... Was crap compared to the orginal. There are alot of decent out there but alot of junk as well. I saw one not too long ago. I believe it was called snake vs. monkey.. or something like that... that was one of the best ive seen in a long time... this one dude knew the monkey style... what a weird style but, looks great on film!

Yeah, no doubt. That one continuious shot is my fav. The story was a little funny. "Wheres my elephant?" what a line.... I would think twice before I stole something from his village though.... I've been wanting to see Master Killer.....

I think there was another Tony Jaa film where he played one of the athletes representing Thailand and they were using their special atheletic skills to kick a bunch of bandit's arses.
Someone really need to make a "pwned" gif animation of that part where Tony does a knock-out overhead-knee-slam.
If you're into Kung Fu, be sure to check out the all time classics.
Police Story I
Drunken Master II
Young Master (maybe hard to find, one of Jackie Chan's earlier Hong Kong films)
Armor of God II: Operation Condor (not so impressive in the martial arts department, but I'll recommend it because it's one of Jackie's funniest)
Enter the Dragon
Fist of Fury (the one where Bruce Lee use a nunchaku to beat up a Japanese dojo)
Way of the Dragon (Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris in Rome)
basically, all of Jackie Chan's Hong Kong classics are worth watching.

see, im not a jackie chang fan at all.. i dont like when humor is mixed with martial arts flicks.. maybe a splash to humor relief.. but thats just personal taste. theres another one I saw a long time ago called the Three Assasins.. i think its called Marco Polo now.. that one was pretty good too.

Oh man I'm a huge martial arts movie fan as well, loved Ong-bak. Didn't even realize he had other movies out, gonna have to look at those. and I agree JERI the Jackie Chan Hong Kong classics are reallly good (those I've seen at least). Have any of you seen this Jackie Chan movie named Gorgeous? Had some really good fight scenes (from what I remember at least), though it was more of a romance movie

Yeah, pretty good fights in there, but the silly romance really cut down on the enjoyment.
My personal taste is that chick-flick styled romance and kung fu DON'T mix.

Although I loved Jackie Chan's older movies, you can't really blame him that his newer movies aren't so hardcore. The guy's in his 50's.
I can't believe nobody's brought up Stephen Chow yet! Kung Fu Hustle rules!

and i also like those cheesy ninja movies with the white dudes that jumps around with colorful ninja stealth outfits from the 80`s .
drunken master is the greatest of the jackie chan movies i think.
was one time trying to get all of them. have all the old ones i think. the new ones isnt that cool. too hollywood.
bruce lee is ok i think, but didnt like his fighting style so much.

I love martial arts films, some of my recent favourites are..
Once Upon a Time in China trilogy
Ong Bak
Tom Yum Goong
Zatoichi (Takeshi Kitano version)
Azumi/Azumi 2
Bichunmoo
Fist of Legend
Kung Fu Hustle
Kiss of the Dragon
Unleashed (yeah, everyone else seems to hate it but I enjoyed it)
Hero
Crouching Tiger
Iron Monkey
and the "oldies but goodies"
Enter the Dragon (well, all of the Bruce Lee films, but this is my favourite)
Lady Snowblood
Close Encounters of the Spooky Kind
Shogun Assassin/Babycart/Lone Wolf and Cub series (essential viewing :D )
A Chinese Ghost Story
and some "not really martial arts films but cool as shit anyway" ones..
Old Boy
Hard Boiled
Bangkok Dangerous
Kill Bill 1&2
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Shaolin Soccer
Battle Royale
And finally the "cheesy 80's straight to video" section
No Retreat, No Surrender
American Ninja
BloodSport
Karate Kid
and pretty much anything with Chuck in it..

Yeah, Van Damme is an evil Russian commie who beats up on this American kid and his dad, then the ghost of Bruce Lee appears and teaches the kid how to kick ass :D
Nope, no kung fu for Morgan I'm afraid.

Just wanted to throw in "Snake and Crane: Arts of Shaolin." One of Jackie's better movies. The story is actually pretty good as well, I think. And "Supercop" is pretty good too. Good fight scenes. Watch the outtakes after the movie. Jackie gets smacked by a helicopter during one of the stunts. Ouch.

Anyone heard of the new Donnie Yen movie coming out in Asia, Dragon Tiger Gate? It's based on a comic, and looks like it could be pretty good.

From what I've seen of the comic, it had a ton of huge, Kung Fu Hustle-like moves, but I don't know if they're going to be going that direction with the movie.

One thing I didn't like about Ong-Bak were the replays (like in old Van Damme movies). It's like they don't trust you to see it the first time. Otherwise it was pretty good.

once a theif movies made by john woo is awesome too. the scene where he puts alot of pistols on diffrent places before he makes his hit on the mafia boss is priceless. and then he just picks up the guns as he walks. john woo is the master of gun tango scenes. just very cool stuff. just boring that they have to act between the action scenes.

Man I thought that movie was crap..... that contraption was so weak.... the only cool thing about that was the dude that ended up beating him.. and the other dudes.. like the guy with the long arms... geeez.. that was just awefull even for a kung-fu flick....
May favs will always be....
1- Master killer.........great story, excellent fighting scenes, great "training scenes", and I love how the integrated the creation of the broken staff into the film
2- The Three assasins aka Marco Polo- badass flick... Iron Palm, Pugalism, and a wrestler that was able to take bricks out of the walls! Crazy!
3- Snake vs. Monkey (dont remember the actual name but it contains snake and monkey) some of the best martial arts displayed i have ever seen.. Especially the dude that does the monkey technique.. fucking amazing..!
Unleashed was badass too although not really a "kung-fu" flick

SuperCop ^_^
Once Upon a Time in China
Tai Chi Master
Shou hu fei long(Skinny Tiger Fatty Dragon) (Sammo Hung, Karl Maka)
Return of the Dragon
Enter the Dragon

Bruce Lee: A Warriors Jouney (a great documentary about how the movie "the Game of Death" was supposed to be)
Meals on Wheels (that Jackie fight with Benny the Jet still trips my out!)
Only the Strong (B Movie/ Mark Dacascos)
Drunken Master 1 and 2! Especially 2!
