Hi folks,
I will be wrapping up a CD in about a month and its time to get the ball rolling on the CD artwork, of which I havent given much thought!
I am open for ideas, suggestions, info, especially on formats, resolutions, ( PSD, Jpeg, sizes) all that good stuff. I have never done this before, I play on zillionz of CDs as a session player but this is my first solo cd.
The music is classical with a twist, somewhat like Mannheim Steamroller, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Tomita and Soundtrack music. One major piece is somewhat gothic, I was thinking of exploring that route.
I would of course give the artist appropriate credit, a link on the CD to a website, blah blah.
I havent signed a record deal yet. ( I will, I have offers and I am a serious pro player), so I dont know what they expect, if they would turn down the artwork or be involved, etc. I would hate if someone did a bunch of work and a record company suit said "I dont like it"!
I cant describe what I am looking for because I really dont know:tihi: I would share samples of the music with anyone interested, but the art doesnt have to exactly match the music, its varied and by many composers.
I would consider a photo, painting, as I said I am open. Its something that I would like to have some fun with and hope the artist would too! I would accept older artwork of course. I was thinking about using "real" gothic art from that time period but I dont know the copyright laws.
OK? Fun? Silly? Good? Bad?
In general, the music is serious, somber and a bit depressing!:D Just a bit, I would say somber is an accurate description. Most was written around 1900-1910 but its all done with synths, samples, and lots of violin, so its not your fathers classical stuff. One or two are kinda sorta rock numbers, the rest more gothic and new-agey.
Thanks for considering this!!!!! It wont be a huge worldwide smash but its very good, high quality Pro stuff and I am very excited about this. David
