This took me 7 hours to do, but not all in one sitting. The original image is 4000x3000 at 300 DPI. So, anyway this is my second attempt at this style of art, critique away, since I'm still learning!

I don't know if anyone cares, but this is my first try at this style.

It personally think it sucks, all except for the eyes, which I'm in love with :)

I would definatly have to say that you should lose the soft shading/airbrushed look and go for a more rotoscoped style. It just looks bad (the soft shading) the way you have it because it clashes with the defined shapes.

Other than that, the right eye (her left) looks a little bit off, and the lips could use some improvment.

But, despite my bitching, it's a good image, and vastly inproved over your first one.

I really like the glasses.

Yeah, the realistically rendered elements don't fit in so well with the 'vector' look. If you're drawing these in Illustrator or some vector program, use gradients as opposed to hand rendering.

Just a nitpick, but the earring in the first picture seems a bit squashed. It's good to see you getting varying widths in your strokes--I think that's something you should push more instead of having uniform strokes.

Okay, thanks for the comments, these are the types of comments/critiques I was looking for :).

Also, I didn't do this as a vector, it's all raster, done in PS7.

Well...for this type of image, I'd strongly urge you to use a vector based program. Either Flash or Illustrator.

I can see why you'd want to have vector. But, really, why? The image is large enough for print, and I can't afford to purchase a vector program.

Its a nice image. some crits however-

1) The left eye is a little out. Personally, I'd make it a little longer and hide some of it behind her fringe - gives you a little leeway and makes her seem more sexy and mysterious.

2) You seem to struggle with lips, but you make them the focal point of your image, basically drawing attention to this area with vivid colours. Perhaps if your models wore muted lipsticks it might look balanced overall.

I love the eyes on the first one too. Well done :thumb:

Push the shading she looks flat: like under thew nose and jaw for starters. Also her hand looks realy weird, I recommend looking at your hand in a mirrior for ref on where stuff goes. Keep drawing and posting!
