Hey, awesome stuff! Great colors on those enviro roughs, love your caracter sketches and this last post is awesome too. As for crits, some characters have a bit wierd anatomy and often they look like they will tip over. You should study more anatomy. (tho its still better than mine)

Your art is very clean, and you are already quite advanced in many areas. You have some of the best clothing I have seen in a while, and it flow's over the bodies very realistically. I would really like to see more but I am sure the art already posted will do good for now :D Very inspirational and good job.

All i can say is that is Good ...A VERY GOOD WORK OF PROGRESSION....indeed...but i can see all the influences of Feng Zhu, Marko ,Ashley Wood .....and many others.........So for reproduction and re-interpretation.is good .but it seems that you are somehow still exporing many grounds.......someone told me once .....if you do a little bit of everything you will never finnish one entierly...so if you want to suceed good in one you have to FOCUS on one thing.in order to master it and then pass on to the next one .............You have a good sense of imagination and shapes ......but focuse more in one direction. ......keep us updated.you got a lot of potential!

Fuck! I sat here for 15minutes trying to think up a worthwhile comment. That should be compliment enough. This book is badness, four supernovas.
Mother nature's left ankle looks kinda thin and some of the profiles of the heads look squashed.

Hey everybody, sorry I have'nt posted anything in a long time. Been busy trying to find a job. Here is some stuff I did for Sin: Episodes Emergence. I think it's ok to post these now that the game is out, so I'll put their logo on all of the art work. I'll just post a little bit of everything and the ones I think are the best. Alot of these drawings didn't make it to final...maybe just 2 or 3.
Thanks,

This was the very first drawing i did when they gave me the description of the big mutant, i had very little information to work off of.

on this one, they said that having this guy with a bigger chest, shoulders and smaller hips would make him more intimidating, It looked better in 3D I thought.

strange, i preferred the earlier stuff...btw, how old are you and which other games have you worked on?

TheGnoll-The stuff for Ritual was last year from August to December, so my stuff that I posted before ritual is really AFTER I worked at ritual. I'm only 21 (22 on May 25th). Haven't worked on any other games other than that, worked on another project when I was in Ritual but it got cancelled. Thanks for the comments, I'll work on the digital and pencil stuff a whole lot more with full potential, no more half shit for me...well, maybe for some speed painting.

Hye bro. You hve some really nice work here. I really dig your sketching style and i like some of the nice details you put in. Keep posting. I saw you did some bridgeman studies a while back, Im studying his work right now out of the orange book he has. Its pretty helpful, Did you find it helpful? Nice work for ritual!! I really like the mutant designs you came up with. I just recently finshed SiN epsidode, I really enjoyed it. Its definately fun. Maybe you'll be doing some work for the next episode? Anyway good SB here.

June 29th, 2006, 12:02 AM
Ryan DeMita-hey man, thanks for the comments. I really do appreciate it. I will keep posting for sure :D. I found the Bridgeman extremely helpful, before I knew about him my drawings were looking a little flat even though I put like shading to show roundness but it just wasn't the same, so yes, bridgeman helped alot and I'm still using it today. Ritual wanted me to come back but i had to turn it down because it was just 3 month contract that MIGHT lead to full time, and I already moved back with my parents so I told them that I can do outsourcing work and they said they will see if they can do it, and I never heard from them again...I'm glad you ejoyed the game, I never played it tho, lol. But my friend haves it so I'll play it when he gets into town, wow this is a fucking long reply. I'm just fucking bored and need crits, welp, more drawing i guess. Thanks again man :D

Hey man, whats going on?
Nice illustration you just posted. You have a awesome mix between realism and cartoon-ism (?) Your colors are very interesting and fun to look at. You definately produce some really interesting designs. Keep on pushing your skills to the LIMIT. My only crit for your latest is try messing around with some texture work and see what your can come up with. The original version seems to lack texture the cover version seems to excesive in texture. Granted, you are working on very different scales with the two but i guess just keep it in mind.
take care!

Dude, I think you stop drawing with your tablet. You don't get the same level drawing that you do with a pencil. I think that is why some of your paintings aren't as strong as they could be. because the underdrawing isn't as sound as when you do it on the tablet. Use Marko's Marvel covers as an example. His thumbs were fast (obviously) but they still have plenty information in them.If you don't get what I'm saying I'll try and call you .

Hey man, this book is full of cool stuff! You have a nice pencils style, but you must work in the digital painting. I think that sketching directly with tablet is so hard, in particular if the tablet have a little active area, and the results are poor instead of traditional drawing, but is a good exercise.
Keep it up, cheers :)

just wanted to chime in and say that I love your designs, quite imaginative :) With the warrior, unless it's intended, I would shy away from using white as your highlight color - it flattens out the image and 'deadens' it. What is your light source color? Try that instead. :)
zao75231
February 4th, 2007, 10:03 AM
Runecaster-Thanks. The design on the warrior wasn't intended at all, I just scribbled some sort of design thing and it turned out that way. I wanted the light source to be like a sun light piercing through the skies so I guess a yellow type color source? I don't know, I'll try some stuff out. Thanks so much for the crit, much appreciated :)

cool self portrait!!! very fucking cool!!! I just want to say i think the album cover you have going is pretty cool, but if its for your band...........uuhhhh....i think you need to change it. It looks more like a metal album cover!!! You guys are not metal at all. you need to have something waaaaaay more evil and dark looking for your cover. :) other than that i think the head looks weird, but you will fix it. SO GOOOO!!!!! and come over and get your gay ass sketchbook
zao75231
March 19th, 2007, 01:58 PM

I think that you should try and push the bg back a little bit more. Painting seems a little flat now, because the bg is to dark it is about the same value as the guy in the foreground. Watch the value in general you might want to try switching the painting to gray scale. Good job just make a few adjustments.

Amazing stuff man... I love your pencil work. Very sharp and confident. That cd cover is effin tight too! :D One thing my digital genius friend always nags me about in my PS stuff is to sharpen the shading and really define the planes. Maybe a little contrast could improve it, particularily in the fore/background with the piles of dead things and clouds? Like how the clouds furthest back have that little extra sharp line of highlighting, really making them pop out. I know there's a ton of detail to work on though, and it looks 10 times better than anything I've done ;) Keep updating! :D

Hey dude,
I went through your entire thread.
You make sketching look like sooo much fun. Very inspiring. Much of my work as of late is always so tight and focused on a specific goal. It was very
refreshing to check your work out.
Not a crit but more an observation and a personal opinion- You have an incredible range of style and applications here. My favourite pieces are the loose pencil sketches that turn into more sketch collaged composition stuff.
ie- that piece you did when you were inspired by Marko's intro or someth'n.
I like your raw colour sense- You tend to tighten up and loose me when you start giving your figures that (forgive me for quotations) "anime" flair. But that is just my humble opinion.
Keep up the great work.
Gangus
zao75231
June 20th, 2007, 01:56 AM
Gangus-I'm glad you like my stuff, I'm deeply honored.
I strongly agree with your opinion, I am indeed a strong anime fan and it was what I studied before I switched to concept design when I went to school, old habits die hard and some people don't like anime in the "Art world", lol. I don't really have a tight and focused goal of what my works will be so I will focus on my goals on a more higher level.
Thank you sir :D

Trying to get back into the groove. Here are my rough sketches, took me about 2 hours. I'm recreating the Thundercats in my eyes, so hopefully it goes well. I think I'll do a couple of more, these kinda feel right but I want to see what else I can do and push that as far as I can. I also notice I'm leaving empty spaces in some designs, need some more reference.
