Online Wacom Purchase for UK delivery?

Does anyone know of an online shop I can order a Wacom Intuos 2 for delivery in UK? Cheaper the better, of course.

Is this a good price or can I get a better deal online or offline in UK?

Is USB better or serial? I would prefer USB as I need the serial port for something else.

Also, is A6 a good size to sketch? I couldnt sketch with my earlier tablet which was 4*5 inches as I found it too small. I had no problems coloring my images with that though.

A6 is the EU format for 4*5" I think.
Not the best size, but it works.
I'd like to have an A4, but I'm a poor pupil :D

I bought my A6 for 220€ which are around 150 pounds. (argh)

Howdy Neole,
can't help you with the where you can buy one, but I have one advice for you.

If you have the money, get an A5 in size, it is so much better (no offense for the A6 guys)
I had 2 wacoms before, first one of the consumer ones in A6 size (don't remember the name, but it wasn't intuos)
Then I went for an A6 intuos, the white ones, but with serial. And now a I have an Intuos A5 with USB.
If you have a high screen resolution, or work with a dual setup, you need the A5 at the very least! from experience A4 is higly recomended if you have hopes of working well on 2 screens.
Usb that is a given... Don't know if you work on Pc, Mac, desktop or portable, but with the Usb, you know it will work on anything, and you don't have to carry around an extra transformer just for the tablet.

If you can't afford an A5, wait ans save, it will be worth it!

R_M - I dont work with 2 screens, and the tablet will be attached to a desktop. I have a midi interface which works better with serial than USB so I asked. When you mean A5 is better to work with, did you mean for windows application or for painting? I dont see why I would paint on two screens at once. Also, I would have my mouse attached as well for regular tasks.

Painting on 2 screens at the same time is an aquired taste, just like coffe! in one scren you have your image full screen at 100% or more, in the other you have the work palets and a second window with the entire image, so that you can see the changes you make while working, the details take place real time on the second screen. Saves you all the zoom in zoom out rutine...
Don't know your screen size, but the bigger the tablet the more control you have, duh!? if you are not sure you could start out with an A6 in the cheaper range, and move up later, then you will really see where your money went!
i use my wacom both while painting and working on other aplications, it is a mtter of getting used to it. Illustrator is one of the few programs where the wacom is more of a problem maker than problem solver. the tablet is extremely precise, and when I have to select one very particular point (vector) that is one pixel wide, I usually end up hitting the pixel beside it!
For 3D programs you need 3 buttons, and setting up the pen to work with them is not really worth it. Good luck!

Besides when you tell people that you work with 2 or even 3 screens on at the same time, you really get their attention... Next time you change computer, keep that old screen of yours and set it up as the secondary one.

Actually I have another monitor lying around, never thought to use it the way you mention. There's no space on my desk anyway.. I'm just a hobby artist, and no 3D. I'm yet to make up my mind on the size. I wish the price didnt almost double for the small increase in size.

I've never heard about a tablet which is that big & cheap.
I also never heard that any artist suggested to buy another tablet that WACOM.

I mean, a WACOM A4 is around 335 pounds - and has features like Pressure Levels: 1,024
Accuracy: +/- 0.25 mm
Resolution: 2,540 lpi (100 lpmm)


I don't think that cheap one is a good choice :)

Compared to any Intuos2 its got half the pressure sensitivity, the accuracy is less, the data transfer rate must be half, the pen's got an AAA battery, there is no eraser on the back of the pen, and there is no tilt sensitivity.

I wonder if the sheer size power beats an Intuos4x5 or 6x8 even with all the nifty features this one doesnt have? But thanks for the headsup Myki, its definitely got me thinking!

Yeah it's Wacom every time..if the price differential was less there would be no contest but at £300 for an
A4 pad that buys alot of cartridges/ram etc.


Work harder..save more and a Wacom is yours!
