.I was there
where the whales were singing,
under a canopy of millenium ice
the gods descend
onto blue stairs of depth
but I didn't heard a thing,
nothing,
what silence.

The deepforest mages of Talin meditate in peace in their treetop Do-jos. When they wish to visit their fellows They travel in the slow gracefull Air trolleys. If a Mage sees their fellow approach they have time and luxury to prepare for the elaborate hospitality ceremonies which pass for social contact among these naturally reclusive people.

"Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen! Please fasten your seatbelts, we approach for landing now. Looks like a great warm summer morning! Sun's shining, covered by some little clouds and it's already a temperature of 24 °C. We approximately have 6 minutes left until we land on c4x city. Enjoy the beautiful view over the largest harbour on this planet with its gigantic Tower. Have a great day!"

The Jungles of Mehlia

In a forest where canopies rise above canopies, the giant Mehlium Trees take flight. Saplings become infused with gas, converting nutrients and minerals within wooden chambers during their growth cycle. As they reach maturity, these gas-inflated behemoths pull from the earth to hover above the jungle, bloated sentinals watching over a lush, tangled wilderness. Trading guilds take advantage of these floating havens, whose gas they harvest to power their own flying ships, carving harbors and outposts out of the trees themselves.

A warning to any industrious engineer, that while these trees provide the means to travel anywhere in the land, their refuge is not long lived. After a decade or so of self-sustained flight, the trees themselves slowly begin to die, using up their own stored resources. As they wither away, the drying hulks become susceptible to fires, turning a floating sanctuary into a violent conflagration.

The Landscape of PB-435 is terribly invasive, the bright sunlight allowing the forest to reach enormous heights and grow quickly. While this doesn't hamper permanent building measure it makes maintaining a ground port incredibly difficult. The solution was simple, interplanetary traffic could dock in harbours well above the ground. Large amounts of greenery have been encouraged to grow over these harbours in order to blend them into the natural habitat and to save on heating.
Another less official explanation is that the shadier crews prefer not to be seen in the easily monitored bright open space.

Canopy Harbor was the first settlement built to expand over seas shipping on the newly colonized planet Celestia. Slow and humble beginnings but it blossomed into a major tradeing post for the 1st continent Lemma. Canopy harbor has never been taken for it is a super strong like defense place. Yea. THats it. Being in a harbor and shit. yea.

We landed on stealthy. Now we have to go through the virgin forest to get to the dark temple where the offering of princess is just taking place. We have to hurry up to save her.

"Tied between the deep jungle and the heavily populated Ailas coast, a crucial highway connects traders from Ailas and the tribes who inhabit the forests. It is well known that without the food and timber supplied by the tribesmen, Ailas would have collapsed long ago despite its incredible technological advances."

Despite the harsh weather, a Klag ship is seen flying toward one of the landing bays at Canopy Harbor. One of the main entrance points on the planet Kurri 7, once docked here passengers can find direct transportation to any of the planets 10,000 major cities.

The Culture had saved the wreckage of the massive L-31.046b, which like its predecessor had gone up in flames during the last Zeppelin raid of the war.
As a fitting tribute, Canopy Harbour was created as a reminder of Admiral Thornblade, the last hair-brained idealist ever to serve as a military commander.

Now Canopy Harbour is associated as one of the lesser ports off the Bay of Balabac where tourist cruise ships like to dock.

Allen harbour, built on the green planet of Tutamay, was designed as a resting point (the first one in a series of harbours) for passing ships on their long journey from earth to earth2, located on the far end of the milky way.
sorounded by vegetation of all sorts, this harbour provides a giddy and invigorating amounts of fresh clean air, soothing and relaxing travelers from all across the galaxy.

Corrick gets my vote, lovely concept, the blurred foreground foliage really gives the entire piece a sense of scale and depth.

love the completeness of the ecosystem.

and sleepersservice-nice way to take the unusually tack on the definition of "canopy" I like the atmospherein your entry a lot.

It seeme dto me that a number of these entries included a Canopy or a harbour, but not a combination. of course Gorans kelpforest is beautiful

great round

I voted for Corrik, though it was a very hard choice between his entry and goran's. Both great concepts and both beautifully presented. I chose Corrik's because it conveyed the theme really well, while the state of weightlessness of those canopies is breathtaking. I wish the foreground was a bit more refined, but it's not too distracting.

sleeperservice's concept is also very interesting. Has a very strange, dreamy atmosphere to it.
