Whatever you want, really. It's hard to get detailed erasing with gum erasers, but they work well for taking out larger areas of shade. Just be careful of the mess.

A gum eraser is good for getting rid of the pencil lines from a finished ink drawing. In general, though, I think white vinyl erasers are more useful, and they don't have that unpleasant smell.
