Hey everyone. I've been meaning to post here for a little while now. I just got out of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and any crits are welcomed, Lay it on me!

This is my first Oil Painting, done in 6 hours of a character of mine.

very cool although the forehead on the left side of the painting seems to droop down too much, almost out of perspective. maybe its just me who knows. cool stuff!

im not sure if you did this on purpose, but i think the values could be pushed more... . and the colors get muddy in places. nice first post though, and welcome

TAKE THAT!!! I definetly agree, the values need to be pushed more. Everything looks kinda blurry, and the contrast in colors may help it sharpen up. Plus, he has a jagged tip on his nose.

Nice control of the hue though.

Your highlights are too muddy, generally the highlights will be the most saturated part of the picture. Notice right next to his nose there is a yellowish patch and right next to that is the highlight which has half the saturation, its almost grey.
Also his ear and lower lip seem inaccurate.

All in all cool composition. Welcome aboard.

My teacher would murder me for paint that thin; you can see the canvas grain right through it. Who knows about other schools but he's leading us to beleive that nothing is worht spit unless it is done with thick paint.
