Juggled with Masque, Romance or SimonL....went with SimonL because his fat dude is simply disgusting enough LOL.

I'm kind of disappointed with this weeks turnout, guess not too many people liked the subject or they were too busy... POSH!

There is something about chuck mate's work that grabs me! Compo is decent, but what I really like is the pose of the character, I really am drawn to what he is doing, and that is what really gives the piece, its greatness!:yayca:

other than that, i do think that this particular challenge was more limited than some of the others - i know i didnt enter cos i couldnt think of much of a spin from the original brief. So congrats to everyone who gave it a shot!

i went with newman, that one is the most descriptive and portrays the character best. the expression is dead on. simonl was technically great but lacked background character info in the expression. all the rest seemed the same.

I voted Darth Massacre because he summed up in one image pretty much everything the CHoW guidelines for this week were.

was a tough decision. my favs are romance and SimonI.

in the end I voted for SimonI.. that guy is just plain disgusting..and the lube just tops it off. made me think about things I didnt wanna think about (EEEEEEEWWWWW YUCK!! :$ :$ So much for eating breakfast today..). apart from that, the rendering is tight- I just love that pic.

matias, newman, Chuck,Mate, masque, romance: great takes on the topic. didn't expect to see so many diffrent ideas with the tight restrictions this week.

posh: would have loved to see your final- the sketch already was awesome.

kudos to evryone for tackling the topic at all (wich at some points had me near a nervous breakdown).

Newman got my vote. After working for WotC for 3 years I know the character description from the customer base, and they are all just minor variations from Newmans piece. His picture immediately said "I play AD&D (D20), WoW, and don't know what deodorant, soap, or toothpaste is." and that to me, screams gamer. Well done Newman.

I voted for Newman. While the props (hat and sword) kind of bothered me a little, and I didn't really feel that the drawing followed the brief (I felt that the brief gave details that were specific to the character, and should have been adressed)... He did get the gamer personna dead on. That guy does scream "I'm a gamer, beat me up and steal my lunch money!" All else aside, I was drawn to this picture as an illustration... great work!

Voted for newman, that's a friggin awesome character right there. So many little features, and an original, yet realistic take on a 35yo gamer. Love it. Just a pity you lost your first rendering to the void.
