goofy as shit, I know, but godamn it gets me charged up. I'm listening to Ride the Dragon right now and I'm torn between laughing hysterically, throwing my fist in the air, and rushing off to paint an epic fantasy battle scene

AHHH manowar !!!!! corny ?? hmm maybe if u look at it from a 'lets find something corny' point of view. ya fine songs like number 1 and kings of metal arent great works of lyrical genius but man some of their slower numbers like heart of steel, swords in the wind are classics. master of the wind is MIND-BLOWING, listen cloooose. ne1 heard achilles? beeeeauuutiful, the fight between hector and achilles is awseome, no lyrics just drums !!!!
and i do think they have a point about these 'new' metal bands ala spice boys ..... OLD SCHOOL BABY

I have just in the past few months really gotten into metal, everything from Blind Guardian to Mayhem to Crotchduster (go to the Crotchduster site immediately, they're hilarious). But anyway, Manowar is by far my favorite metal band.

no, Iron Maiden is like Spinal Tap for real. Maiden is soooo Tap it makes the movie twice as funny. I don't know what Manowar is, besides awesome, but they're not really that Tap.

Maiden's awesome too, don't misunderstand me.

Manowar is every geeky fat kid with glasses, who sits around rolling stats for his D&D character and reading fantasy novels all night, while secretly dreaming that he were a badass warrior.

It's Viking Metal. Plain and simple.
