I started this one a long time ago. But it sucked so i scrapped what i had. Recently I decided to resurrect this guy and head in a different direction (Mainly concetrating on the color aspect.
Perhaps the tufts of fur will help steer it away from being such a generic demon design.

dude, i really like it. The colours are really nice and it looks like youve done a portrait of him when he was sitting in front of you great pic. The beard or his hair on him looks really really nice. Also the face muscles looks awesome.:chug:

the orange and blue work well together.
The face looks great, but I really like the horns for some reason. They look like theres a lot of detail in them.
The fur is an added touch, it gives more of a cuddly animal feel to the demon :)

I got to this point after some experimenting in Painter 8. I'm wondering should i call this guy done or push it further? I really don't want to overwork it

That's really sweet man! I think you're almost there. Right now the whole painting seems a little soft. If you smack down some hard edges on your focal points to make them pop, I'd say you're done. Even though his eye's in shadow, I would add a little glint in there as well, just to hold attention.

Hi Grooveholmes,
me think the first version, (the one with the uber chest hair) had more going for it..
the rendering is better in the second one, but he had more character in the first version. he reminded me more of a greek satir (not sure it is the right english word), the small guys half human half goat who spent their time playing and f*%#ing...
