View Full Version : Long time no see - an art retrospective

Hey all, I've largely been keeping to myself during the last year, building a career and developing my art. I've been lurking though, and seen some great improvements from you folks. For the few of you that remember me from our glorious CA self portraiture years, I hope you'll find that I've developed since then, too.
Here is a sample of what I've been doing on my hiatus:
For Fantasy Flight Games' Call of Cthulhu card game:

http://home.broadpark.no/~cnords/portfolio/colour/nordstrand-screaming_of_the_spheres-web.jpg
For White Wolf's Werewolf rpg, fun work:

For a yet to be published game:

For Sabertooth Games' Warcry card game:

For Alderac Entertainment Games' Legend of the Five Rings card game:

For White Wolf's Werewolf rpg again.

Looking at these it's obvious there are time gaps inbetween - there are at least three different variant signatures going on! :S Anyways, I'm always looking to improve and appreciate any comments you may have on this bunch.
Thanks for lookin'

Hey, its amazing work!
You really have made friends with colors and illumination!
I thought that the last female with the sword looked a bit weird, like she sticking the sword into her own belly, is she supposed to do that?

Hey, these are great- I especially love the Werewolf ones, you've definitely captured the whole animistic spirituality of the new books. Your Cthulu ones are really great too.
My only crit is that the Warcry image looks as though it should be a Games Workshop image- that goblin is exactly the same as the old Warhammer goblin fanatics or whatever they were... but then maybe thats intentional, i dunno...
Very nice work :)

Thanks all for your comments. It's nice to be back!
Expat, the Warcry card game is set in the Warhammer universe, so it's not a rip-off of Games Workshop's goblin fanatics. They ARE goblin fanatics :)
Here's something a little different in terms of style, all from a Vampire book that just came out:

Wow... those last few paintings for vampire are great... I'm thinking about buying one only for the art.

Arumeo, the Funcom / Conan guy you're thinking of is Vebjørn Strømmen, aka "Keel". Not a lot of us Norwegians working freelance in this genre.
Alti, rpg books and card games are sold in speciality stores, or can be ordered over the net. It's an easy to enter and fun industry, great for learning the ropes, though the pay is weak overall.
Thanks again for your comments.

How hard doest thou rocketh Senor Nordstrand?
I particularly enjoy the way you've gone from someone I used to offer advice to, to a peer, to someone of whom I am a fan.
Here's to even more development and to getting everything you want your work to bring you. Such as hawt groupies. :)
I think those last Werewolf ones are my faves.

^Aye Dallas..
These are all grimy from inventive angles, you have a serious eye for horror macabre. Impressed like the rest.. you have talent.
Keep doing you

Mr Hodgson, you were extremely helpful when I was still trying to get jobs, it's nice to hear that you feel you're starting to get your money's worth. :^^:
Egets, I think the wind you are feeling is not from me but from all the great artists that stand behind me. :)
Bomba, Thanks. I've seen your photo based stuff, very powerful.
I'll post more when I have something new. There's another Werewolf cover that I'd like to show but unfortunately the book's not out yet. Thanks again everybody.
