So I figured that since I had planned to make a thread when I first started at Watts to chronicle my progress there.. and since that was over half a year ago.. that it was about time I started posting some of my work.
Ill start off with my best work thus far, and then maybe in subsequent updates ill grow a pair and show you some of my not so good work.. such as quicksketches.
all of these were done in about 2 hours with charcoal on smooth newsprint, with the exception of the oil painting which was 3 hours.

wow.... beautiful. I think the first piece is the weakest of the bunchest, mainly because of the large swath of one value on the side of his face.
I wanna go to Watts...:[

Glikster- Thank you for the kind words, oddly enough the one you said was the weakest is my favorite of them all, I think I cropped the drawing too much in photoshop, the large bright swatch of value doesn't seem to bother me in the original drawing. So if you want to go to Watts.. what is stopping you?

Good Mike,
The drapery and clothed figure studies are my favorite. Remind me to work with you a little more on edges this week. That is the main weekness right now. I don't see it as much in the drapery which lead me to believe you are seeing just fine, but you are forcing things a bit in your figures and especially your heads.

Here is some new stuff from this week, pretty happy with the figure drawings, they are a step up from what I normally produce. I have mixed emotions about the oil paintings, and this week saw 2 pages of non-vomit inducing quicksketches (a first for me) so I figured I would post them as well.

nice a lot of work..your last set of drawings/paintings are better you can tell the progress..(i especially like the second drawing very delicate..)the work from watts is very strong..still i dont like the paintings though..If i may critique..i think it lacks a bit of sensibility toward flesh..perhaps more anatomy..? not sure..but nice work overall
