Today I had to go up to the college and finish up two (yes, friends, not one but TWO) composite line drawings of a very complex still life consisting of a few boxes, a couple of chairs, a wheelbarrel, a tricycle, a few pieces of bamboo and some driftwood all piled together before they disassembled it tonight. Instead of taking the standard Massive Attack to listen to, I decided I would bring Fair to Midland's album inter.funda.stifle instead. What a difference!! I can honestly say that tonight was the first time I reached that zen-like state of mind and just let my subconscious take on what was at first a VERY intimidating assignment. (I actually got a splitting headache in class today trying to tackle that monster.)

For a sample, you can head on out to their myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/fairtomidland). It has full audio samples of some of the best songs on the album, and video of a show here in Dallas. You have to stop the video after it loads to listen to anything else on the page.

Official website here (http://www.ftmband.com/). Hope you guys enjoy!

Funny, I remember hearing these guys from a co-worker at my previous job. He got fired before I got the name of the band, and it kinda bugged me that I never found out.

The first time I heard the album, I laughed my ass off. The lead almost sounds like a male Shakira in the first track. There's also some renaissance festival undertones to many of the tracks, which seemed kinda dorky. (But then again, I'm a big affectionado for the more dorktastic things in life) Then the next night he played them again, and it sounded a little better. Before the week was up I was really digging them.

Will be getting their first album post-haste.
