I've been following the progress of MindCandyMan's thread for a while now, and keep promising myself I'll do a similar thing, then never getting round to it.
Well I've finally got my ass into gear and started. I'm not an amazing artist, quite the contrary, i'm a complete amatuer, but I intend to spend a few hours a day sketching (mostly from life) and this thread should be an interesting way to chart my progression.

I also want to experiment with different media once I feel I'm comfortable enough with the ol' pencil and paper, so any suggestions people could give along the way would be great :)

That said, here's a couple've sketches I did today.

Just a picture of some guys in underwear (o_O) and a drawing of Sophie Ellis Bexter. I got bored with the guys and gave up pretty soon, and I cocked up Sophies left eye, but I didn't dare run it out incase I made it worse...

Some sideways bananas, and old mens eyes. I dunno what it is about old people's eyes, but I find them really fascinating.

Unfortunatly I don't have a scanner, so I just have to take photos with my digicam....better than nothing though :P

More tommorrow :)

Ok, didn't get a great deal done today. Attempted a self portrait, but it didn't come out very well :( I might try working some more on it tommorrow, but it got to the point where my lack of artistic ability was making me feel like smashing my head against a brick wall. Hard. So I decided it may be in my heads best interest to stop o_O. I also did some sketches of apple cores and a pair of nail clippers I had lying around, but they're on the same sheet as the old mens eyes, so I didn't wanna post it again. Plus they're not that interesting :\

Keep going andru don't stop...don't let yourself go one day without drawing. Keep it up I can see you have inherent talent.

Keep doing self portraits they are fun. I have probably done literally 60 of them and mine still don't look like me and they look awful...but they have gotten better and taught me a lot about drawing/painting/etc... Keep it up man...if you do nothing else do a self portrait everyday!

Try to spend more time on your drawings. The self portrait would be the best and easiest to spend the most time on. I've probably spent at least +8 hours on my last self portrait.
