I discovered that the brightness on my 20-inch Sony CRT monitor has drifted higher by about 5% - 10%, to the point where I can no longer accurately color calibrate it. I would normally prefer to see if I could get the monitor repaired but in researching new monitors, I found that tigerdirect has 21" CRT monitors for under $100. I am certain that repairing my monitor would cost more. What makes me hesitate is that tigerdirect's monitors are brands I have never heard of (Thinkvision and a mystery brand) and are either off-lease or refurbished.
I can't afford an LCD at this time so a good CRT makes more sense. Anyone have experience with buying off-lease or refurbished monitors or know anything about Thinkvision?
