View Full Version : Bad quality antialiasing in Painter IX?

My problem is that when I'm working in Painter IX, the screen visualization feels awkward, even at zoom levels that are supossed to achieve optimal antialiasing (100% & 50%, I think). Not that I have artifacts or something (I get some jaggy lines for example), but it doesn't feels right. Furthermore, when I open these files I've been working on painter, with PS, they look great!

Is it supossed to be that way? Am I missing some configuration setting?
I just wanted to hear other experiences because this really puzzles me.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't got any advice on how to fix it, but I've noticed this myself. It really makes it a pain to work on high-res files sometimes, especially pencil and line work.

At least I'm not crazy :)

I am using Painter 8 and do not have that problem at all. I also do not recall reading about Painter 9 users complaining about this problem. I strongly suspect that there is some setting problem with your setup.

I'm running Painter IX on Athlon 64 3200+, Geforce 6600gt and 1gb ram. Although the hardware seems sufficient I, too, have this problem. Any Painter experts out there willing to help out?

Faced this problem myself today, came here looking for help, then figured it out soon after. It can be fixed by going to preferences>general> and checking the box next to "Draw zoomed out views using area averaging." It will then look fine at round zoom levels like 50% and 25 etc.

there is no anti - aliasing when your in rotate, which is annoying

open canvas anti aliases everything, wish painter could do that

Thanks Bammer! for me it only anti aliases at 50% is there another setting to get it to work on 25% and 75%?

Bammer it worked, now it looked just like Photoshop anti aliasing.
