Anyone represented in a gallery??

So I was wondering how the gallery system works.

They hang up your work if they like it and take commision if it sells right??

I was just curious if anyone has their stuff up in galleries and how that works out for them?? I was thinking of taking some of my paintings to galleries that seem to have similar stuff and wondering what others have done??

all your questions will be answered (including the ones you haven't thought of yet) in How To Survive and Prosper as an Artist by Carrol Michels. One of the most worthwhile books I've ever read regarding any sort of business advice, I can't recomend it enough.
