Hi Folks, after at least two month of trying to get on here, i finally made it.
(dont ask, computer bugs)
So Hello to you all.
I am a little of an amateur (french, but leaving in the UK), and try to sketch at least every day. I generally work on paper, but i also own an aiptek graphic tablet which is sometime use.

I am going to try and participate a little more in the daily sketch group topic.
even though i am more of a "classic" artist (portraits, figures) and i enjoy drawing from life, i am also interested in conceptual art. so here i am.

now, while i am here, i am currently working on something all of you can help me with, if you like.

I am painting my motorbike tank (it's a Ducati Monster 900..the one from The Crow movie (city of angels) (or cat woman)?) . it's a piece of engineering art in itself.
anyway, i invested in all the equipement (compressor, spray gun, airbrush) and the paint. I have two undercoat colours (black and black+pearl (graphite)) and two clear coats (gloss and matt) which give me 4 combinations. most of the bike is black.

What you guys could help me with is maybe some sort of design. So far, i have jogged a couple of ideas on paper (flames, checkered flags etc..) i'll try and scan them later on and post them here.

Would any of you have any ideas on some designs i could airbrush down ?
i am new to airbrushing so nothing too complex.

i chose the black and graphite combo so that from a distance, it all looks black, and the design appears only as you come closer.

i guess if anyone comes up with a great idea, he could have the privilege of seing his design on the bike ! I could try and post a pic of the tank, but i dont seem to be able to.

why are all the posts that say "new member" ALWAYS requests,
never art?

stefd,
we'd LOVE to have you here,
sharing art,
sharing opinions,
sharing ideas...

but no one here is going to take time out of their work schedule to do work for free,
for someone we dont know.
sorry if thats harsh, but its true.

heres my suggestion:
work up some designs yourself,
take pictures of them,
and post them in the "critque center".

hundreds of people will look at them,
and numerous will reply with suggestions on how YOU could make YOUR designs look better.

Ahh, Dan you monster!
Instead of a stinging slap on the wrist, you give a gentle kiss on the cheek!
Good job!

Well, thanks, i realise that.
I just thought id share my current project, maybe the timing is not spot on.
i am not really asking anyone to work for free, but maybe some people on here have been interested in putting something on a bike before, but never had the oportunity ?
As an artist myself, i am not expecting a full transfereable design, but maybe someone has a flash of inspiration which he could describe in 5 words ? that's all i would need to get me a little further from where i am now.
But anyway, you are right, it should be in the critic section (and it will be, keep yours eyes open !)

(somehow, i have been trying to join for month, but couldnt complete the registration process. (got an error page all the time) I even had contributions to the daily sketch group, which are now almost out of date by 2 months. Today, i just try my luck, and it worked !
anyway,
Maybe i'll see you on the critics forum.
oh, and i'd like to attach drawings on here, but i cant.. any ideas ?

Yep, get an account at fx photobucket, upload your pics to that, then you copy the img tag and paste it in your post, voila, there they are, ready to be taken to the next level! Keep the images to 800x600 and less than 50 k, to help with loading.

Cheers Tim

you can also practice with the airbrush when creating your own designs.
