Lord George Henry Fredrickson

Historical Fiction*
Lord George Henry Fredrickson. Mid to late 1800's. Lord Fredrickson is a Lich hunter & Master of the Occult of some quiet acclaim in certain discerning circles. By nature he is a reserved man, brutally intelligent, quick in thought and often in action, but never reckless.

Cursed more than a century ago by an Egyptian Lich, Lord Fredrickson walks the twilight between the true light of life and the enternal darkness of death. He can not die, though he can not really live either.

With each Lich Lord Fredrickson dispatches, he desperately searchers for a counter curse to his affliction, but none have been found, much to his continued frustration. Over the past few decades, his searches have turned more desperate, as madness is slowly claiming him. In his more lucid moments, he fears for those he cares for, but holds little hope of chaging his fortunes. Isabelle, his wife, has been instructed in the art of horcrux destruction, and how to kill a Lich, but as Lord Fredrickson has no known horcrux, it is feared that all efforts will be futile.

Wow, my browser sure didn't want to load my pic... Took 2 refreshes... Maybe I need a new host.

Anyway... Pan and orcatraz got my votes. Didn't wanna go nuts on nominations and thought those 2 were exceptionally executed and best represent the character.

I'm not sure how well this poll's working though as it currently says pan and orcatraz both have 100% of the votes. Maybe this will change with more nominations?

i voted for hurricane.
there were ALOT of good entries...but huri's looks like he could kick EVERYone elses asses...at the same time. and if a motherfucker is hunting litches..and is cursed...he damn well better be a tough sum'bitch.

I voted for Orcatraz and Helzon. Orcatraz, because the detail is amazing for a black and white picture. Job VERY WELL DONE, love the mood. Helzon's piece was totally different from everyone else's, and caught my eye when I saw it. I like it, I like it a lot!

yay for polls.

I went with Pan, Orcatraz, and Mainloop.

Redehlert and Hurricane were Honourable mentions. Even though Red's didn't get into the poll - at the moment - hopefully that gets fixed soon :)

Yeah what happened to Red's piece? Oreg?

I went nuts with this one simply because we can pick so many :P Here are the great eight:

Pan, Orcatraz, Mainloop, Masque, Pixelherder, hurricane, Angry Pirate and Corrick.

I have no idea why but Corrick's piece really appealed to me. But I thought it needs to be busier in the background coz he seem like he's at an egyptian marketplace.

Damn. Should have read about the multiple votes *before* voting. Nevermind. Hurricane gets my vote (for previously stated reasons). If I was allowed to go back and vote again I'd also put ticks next to Dominus (fabulous furtrimmed coat and face tatts), Orcatraz (all round slick entry with a sensational background) and Pan (just love those tones and style). Hell - there'd be a few more too no doubt. Really strong competition this one. Well done all.

i went for
hurricane, pixelherder, angry pirate, pan, orcatraz, main loop and mutley.

great set of entries this time!

if i had to pick just one it would have been Pan. lovely style.
orcatraz is a close second: love the silohetting on the feet.

hurricans is nice: great rendering as usual + a very distinctive character.

main loops i love but the painting could do with a little more confidence in places ( i am a fine one to talk eh?) top enty though!

mutley: i just love your piece as a whole: great composition, lovely linework and lots of drama. top stuff!

So my votes went like this: orcatraz for fantastic oppressive atmosphere, main loop and hurricane for near flawless execution, and redehlert for the spin he gave the character. Some damn fine work this round, but those are my faves.

Helzon
January 24th, 2006, 09:12 AM
Unabashedly I was a vote . There were just too many wonderfully rendered and well thought out pieces. Take a look at the poll results you'll know who I voted for. But suffice it to say what a hell of a round from everyone! And I can only imagine the jaw dropping images that are gonna show up for the next round.
My hat's off to each and every one of you.
Define: Thank you so much for the vote, I am humbled and grateful.
Best to you all!

I was a complete vote too. There were so many amazing entries, it was liberating to be able to support them all!

I voted for:
~bluefooted...the tarot connection was genius.
~Corrick, for a wonderful concept.
~hurricane, because of the Brom-y, Victorian steam punk vibe! And I love bald men.
~mainloop...he caught the portrait style of the period beautifully
~morbidhumor, succint and precise and eerie
~orcatraz...spot on. You can just taste his antiquity.
~pan, for his hot Egyptian sun and wicked, baleful stare.

Okay, now that I'm sure I've offered too much information, I have to say this was a great first experience here, and I'm mightily impressed with everyone! Cheers!

I love the multiple voting option because I can just go really quick through the line-up and pick out every little thing that catches my eye :^^:

I ended up voting for dream_sear, orcatraz, angry pirate, romance, pan, and red. Something about each of these just stood out from the rest. Congrats all, great round!

Alright alright, I conceed the multiple vote system was a must this week...just too many amazing entries. I would still urge ppl to use their votes wisely...the system breaks down when ppl start spreading votes around to everyone. I'm going with Loop and Orcatraz, but everyone deserves a special gold star this week!

Pfew! Thank goodness for multiple votes. I was worried until I read that. I gave mine to Orcatraz and Pixelherder. There were lots of great pieces, but those were the two that really said, "if I were making a movie/game, this would be what I'd want at my side."

orcatraz, pixelherder, and hurricane all got my votes. In that order. I loved all three pieces and they are all so different.

Pan
January 24th, 2006, 09:56 PM
Hurricane's has my vote for favorite. I loved the steampunk elements and I thought it was one of the more unique takes on the character.

I also put in votes for:

orcatrax - Yours has a wonderful understated gothic feel and a nice use of shadow and light.

aNGRY pIRATE - The character has a great ethereal quality about him

mutley - I really liked the feel of the whole environment around your character. It contributes a great atmoshpere without taking away from him.

This was fun, fun. Hope to do it again :)

like xgabo's piece. although it has some flaws, it really leads the eye trough the picture. From the glass of wine to the face to the claw-like hand. Good work.

ok what the helll is this multiple voting crap!?!?!?!!?!?!?
how is that a fair voting practice???????
the whole point of voting is to choose the ONE you like THE BEST
i would love to vote in this but i will not do it if everybody can vote multiple times
its just freaking pointless and not exactly fair
the results wont really mean much of anything

Whoa, there pardner.

Multiple votes have their use. In the case of CHOW, we often have a ton of top notch entries and people have expressed a desire several times to be able to vote for more than one entry.

You can vote for one entry, all of them, or none, or any combination there of. It's your choice.

How is it fair? It just opens up things a bit more for the voter. If you yourself don't feel comfortable voting for more than one picture, that's fine. Just vote for one.

This isn't the first time we've used this process, and each time we've done it before we still end up with a winner.

So, relax. The universe won't implode or anything. And, yes, it is fair voting.

Booooo! I call vote recount based on the fact that Dave (Redehlert) didn't get his entry into the original batch. I didn't pay attention and thought there was only 1 vote option. Redehlert got my vote because it screams CHARACTER. He was able to convey attitude in his facial expression alone and the smoke coming out of the nose is just dope. Before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm just kidding on the recount thing.. although I am oddly reminded of a certain election a few years back... damn Florida.... and their walking dead armies of old people.

Simon Boxer
January 25th, 2006, 10:11 PM
Trev, it doesn't actually change the outcome, since each person's vote gets added to the % of people that chose that image. It's hard to explain, but look at the tally - where orcatraz has almost 50% votes means 1 in 2 people voted for him, not that he has 50% of total votes. I think it's set up so each entrant has their own %, which will be (#people that vote for them)/(# people that voted).

It's still fair, it's just a different kind of system. It also encourages noobs like myself, as we can look at the tally and see that someone (who probably also voted for orcatraz) liked my interpretation.
