The look on that girl's face is awesome. You captured her perfectly. The gun looks unfinished, but I'm sure that is why you had it in the WIP forum.

That girl look awesome (I keep going back to look at her and expecting her move).

i like that BG--and i really liek the way you handled his face

can i make a suggestion--if you just put his hand in the fore-ground with a thumbs-up?--man then itd be perfect!!!

thanks for the replies guys,
ty: yeah as if a drawing of arnold wasn't enough cheese, a thumbs up would be perfect!

ic: yeah, originally i wanted the head to be in color and the further you got from the head to be in black and white but design wise it wasn't coming out as nicel as i liked so i just flattened it and colored it. so the further away from the head the flatter. though i don't know why i do this stuff, no one seems to notice.

I read your intent for the first drawing, with gradually making the figure flat as you go out, but I think that just weakens the piece. The face is really good, and I just wish to see the same level of finish over the rest of the piece in that 'vignette' sort of framing.

I think going from color to black and white as you originally intended would have made for better effect, but as it is, it just looks unfinished.

hey j,

cool paintings! the girl's expression along with the mutumbo finger taunt are fantastic.
i like how you're incorporating elements of design into your work. combining flat and rendered areas is always fun but it can be a bit tricky sometimes. if you want you can go even flatter with the gun and body leaving the face rendered as is. that might help push the design aspects further and bring forward her head.
