Yep im 21 soon and ive been so damn busy Ive only just started giving it some thought :nohope:

Im one of them kids brought up in a poor family so things like holidays or lavish gifts that are useless past 21 aint my thing.
So far all I kinda fancy is perhaps mebe..
Website with domain host an all that crap.
Or mebe a wacom, Ive only jus recently started doing animation full time and I like the idea of a decent wacom, but which to get?
Anything past that Ive no idea, I was offered paid for driving lessons but declined cos I refuse to drive a car. So any nice ideas I aint thought of yet?

And yes im planning a drunken stupor for the week of my birthday with all my flat m8s :P

Don't go overboard with the drunken stupor spiel. One of my sister's friends nearly let himself get pressured into drinking enough to get hospitalized. Instead he puked like crazy and was sick for two days. But stil, I'd think you'd rather remember your 21st birthday a bit more fondly. And clearly.

Happy Birthday either way though.

Funny enough I just read something like this on this forum. (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=1780095)

My 21st is coming up soon here, on March 2nd. Though the drunken thign does'nt really apply, since the legal limit in my province is 18.

I think all i really want is some friends over in my new apartment. Maybe some art supplies. Nothing special at all really. Some more monkey towards my montreal workshop fund? :)

I'll be there, Interceptor!

And yeah, Flynn, dont do anything stupid like 21 shots or whatever, but get all shit-faced and have the time of your life.

Having someone pay for your domain registration and maybe your first year of hosting might work out.

Gnomon DVDs if that interests you, or maybe a handful of "Art of" books from your favorite movies, etc?

I turned 21 on my last birthday. Can't remember what I wished for. I don't know if I wished for anything, but I went out to dinner at an italian place and went to a movie :P I'm not much for getting wasted.

i second all the cautions against binging just 'cause ya can do it legally. my son did that not long after turning 21 (yeah, my son's older than many of you young whippersnappers!), it ended up costing him a night in the E-room and about US$1200.00 for the dubious pleasure. also, you can use the brain cells better for creating art than for sacrificing to Dionysus.

spirits in moderation. art with unadulterated passion!

Damn Masque, those US med. bills are insane!
I did the same thing, police dropped me off at the emergency
Total cost:20 bucks. I had 2.37 promille alcohol level in the middle of winter, and a complete blackout, woke up without my shoes and Keys. I could have frozen to death...

glad you survived that nearly "fatal glass o' beer"!

Hehe. yea more like "half a bottle of vodka, half a bottle of kaluha, one bottle of wine, 4 fruity cides and the peice that topped it of: 40 cl of tequila, downed in one glass on a dare to the delightfull chants of my friends just before we leave the flat"

Nooo good, and they ahve the pictures to prove it, right up until they put me in the taxi and sent me home. Then blackness... I need to mention that this was the "get to know your new classsmates" first party ever.

WTF?! Masque, I always thought your kids are teenagers...21!? Bloody hell!!

Wouldn't recommend the "drunken stupor" thing too. But hey its your 21st so....do it with control.

I still remember my 21st. I slept till 5pm coz I worked late the night before. Then a week later, my mom "remembered" my birthday and gave me $50.

What about a Wacom Intuos 3. Size doesn't matter. That smoth litte baby got customizable buttons on the sides where you can store your 8 most used hotkeys... I strongly recomend it :D

I got a digital camera on mine to practice animating, that could go too :) (unless you have one, that is).

happy early bday flynn. being an audiophile myself, i would want this (http://www.audiocubes.com/images/f_audiotechnica_athw1000.jpg) if i were you. haha but of course not everyone is like me and you want something that's useful. i'd suggest your own website and what not. present your work neatly and nicely instead of in forums.

Just like to point out he's in Bolton UK, not in America. You can drink legally from 18, so he's prob got very drunk alot. Mainly on park benches with White Lightning or Woodpecker.

I was sick as a dog, stuck in the darkroom trying desperatly to finish up a photo project that was due the next day with the last 10 sheets of photopaper I had when I turned 21. When I mentioned that in class the next day the teacher said, "Jeez you should've said something I would've given you an extension" Oh well...I've gotten plenty o drinkin in since then :vodkamachine:

To be honest though, I'm going to turn 27 at the end of this month and I could probably give up drinking entirly and not miss it too much, maybe a fancy foriegn beer or some wine every now and again, but getting drunk is just kinda boring now.

Hmmm....never been drunk in my life, you guys don't have any self control just for trying to drink(and no, my religion isn't banning drinking, I just decided not to:P)
I've just turned 20 (jan. 20th--I guess everyone reaches the age when their age matches the birth date--), and had no idea what to wish for.
Had an exam, as I recall, on that day, nailed it too.
Otherwise it was just another day when I overslept and stayed up late thinking about the years that have passed.
No biggy.....as for presents, I think I'm gonna ask for a Wacom as well for my 21'st (if I don't buy it sooner:))

Take it easy with the drinking guyz, the world's colorful enough without them:P
