Well, for the longest time I thought there were only 6 or 7 artists on this site. I never thought to click the link to go to the forums. This is my first post. I painted this guy a few days ago as a color study for a 3d model I've built and plan to animate. His name is Ugh.

he's a rotten little critter, only thing is that he's more of a danger to himself than anyone else.... I have the model finished but not textured, where would I post it?

I'd like to see that model - I guess normally you'd post in "Works In Progress" but since it's related why not attach it as a reply to this thread?

Um... Ok. If it's alright :)
I drew the color composition from memory so there may be some deviance from the model's anatomy. On another note, I absolutely hate mapping UV's. I've been at it for a couple of days now and I still have a way's to go.

Cool stuff! I like the character, the model, and the illo. Nice contrasts in texture. The horns get lost against that background- you could adjust the bounce light under the horns, or lighten the bkg... Same thing under the chin and in the belly shadows. Maybe a warmer (or cooler secondary light source would do the trick. That would be fun! The contrast on the face is just great. Thanks for postin'!

That's just great -- very cool character. I like his saggy little love handles...

That is totally great. I love the illustration, and the character. Can't wait to see him moving. Is this for an animated short, or just for fun?
My only crit would be the feet on the actual model. I understand that his feet are more hand-like than ours (cool idea), but the way the top plane of the foot connects to the ankle looks a bit odd.
Cool stuff, thanks for posting.

Yeah, he's just for fun. The Semester just ended so I'm enjoying my free time. All year, a friend of mine and I planned several short animations for our imps. Partly for fun partly to produce portfolio work.

I love him, its going to rock if your textures are as good as your concept. I think his belly might be a bit big in the model, if hes an imp he probably moves fairly fast, and the large tummy of his might get in the way, and cause unwanted clipping/rigging problems.
