I know it'll feel a little bit pessimistic, but have you ever wonder " Will I ever be able to become a real artist, be able to follow my true dreams ? "

I'm currently studying in history, attending art class at night. I don't know if Universities will take me in Fine Arts later, if I'll be able to catch up the people who's been sure to be an artist since they're teens or even kids. I always had a good sense of drawing and a lot of creativity but sometimes I don't know if it's good enough since I didn't practice a lot before this year. I'm currently 18.

This thread seems like I want to be comfort, but I just wanna know what people think about being an artist and what's their reasons behind it.
Hearing miraculous stories would be nice too.

While, i'll continue to practice my @$$ off. Imagination is my only reason to live, I can't do something else and be happy. :[

Anybody who draws/creates and enjoy's it is an artist to an extent.

If anything else come's of it, such as a job/career, then top banana.

I totally know the feeling. I have been drawing for what seems forever. I graduated from Th Art Instruction Schools with a 3.4 GPA and as I sit here I am second guessing my skills.

I wonder about this every day of my life...

Doesn't sound like much help, does it? Try clicking on my name and taking a look at my birth date...

Totally understandable. We all feel that way sometimes. I'm still young and people have been telling me since I was little that I'm a great artist (not so much on CA, but I wouldn't have it any other way). I'm in a pretty good position to jump into the industry when I graduate (end of august... yikes) and I second guess myself frequently.

Just work hard on your technique, work hard to promote yourself, read a lot about your industry, talk to people who know and you'll do just fine.
