I thought it would be cool to have a place to share interesting indie games we've played. I try to play as many as possible (and support the companies by buying them), but it's pretty hard to find them through anything but word of mouth, which usually doesn't get started until after they've won awards. And let's face it, half the fun of indie games is knowing about the gems before everyone else does.

Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space (http://www.shrapnelgames.com/digital_eel/Weird_worlds/1.htm) by Digital Eel
My personal favourite right now is this one. Each game is extremely short, anywhere from ten minutes to a half hour, but everytime you play it generates a brand new galaxy to explore. Your goal is to explore as much of the galaxy as possible, meet new lifeforms, find strange artifacts, upgrade and customize your ship, assemble a team of allies and battle nasty alien fleets, and then get back home before time runs out. It loses some of its interest once you've seen most of the items and objects to collect, but I've played it dozens of times and there's still some items I haven't seen more than once.

A platformer in which you play as a sticky blob of tar. A lot of fun and the physics feel great. I've only played the demo, so I can't vouch for the whole game, but as far as the demo goes is a ton of fun. They also have a few other really cool games on their site. If you like puzzle games, I recommend checking out Triptych. It's like Tetris, but with bouncy physics.

A really cool game with awesome art direction. The whole thing takes place inside of a computer, and it's really reflected in the art. It's usually described as an RTS, but you can't really fit it into that mold. This game is also now available over Steam. Also check out Uplink (http://www.uplink.co.uk/) by the same guys. It's a game about hacking and espionage in the future. The game is played as if you yourself are the hacker, and the entire game uses this graphical hacking interface which is surprisingly engrossing. It's really cool, and I definitely recommend trying the demo. I haven't bought it yet, but I'm planning to.

To tell the truth, I only played this game once after I bought it. I don't regret buying it, at the very least I'm supporting an indie game company. It was quite fun for a bit, but I lost interest. It's in the I still recommend checking out the demo. I hear you can get this over X-Box 360 Live Arcade, so that's awfully cool.

There's a few more I can think of, but I'll leave it at this for now. I had to retype this entire post twice already.

Mount & Blade (http://www.taleworlds.com/) by TaleWorlds

Here's a review of it- Mount and blade (http://dubiousquality.blogspot.com/2005/05/mount-blade.html)

This game is awesome, I bought it two days after trying it. It has a really excellently designed combat system for individual combat and large scale engagements. The range of available weapons is very extensive, including throwing knives, lances, swords, maces and many more.

You may have heard of it, but Soldat is a fantastic game, great fun, if a little fast paced for some.

Great idea for a thread. Sword&mount rules! Good example of how you don't need dragons to make a cool knight game.
