This is three seperate photos, the sky, the snow foreground and the rabbit(my pet rabbit). This was just a quick composing test to see if I could make a sureal landscape. But it came out rather nice I wanted to share with you guys.

This is great. Couple things I would do different though (and this is just my personal opinion): There's a lot of contrast in the horizon (the white ground against black trees), and it draws the eye there (mostly to the left side) instead of the bunny. I like the simulated depth of field, but the sharp area seems to be in front of the bunny---instead the sharp area should be along the same depth plane as the bunny. Also, you should make the bunny larger. It would help if the bunny overlapped the horizon. The trees are sitting on the horizon, so you should vary the horizon instead of a dead straight horizontal line. Color it! Black 'n white isn't doing anything for this image. Wanna make it look more 'surreal'? Use unusual colors. The bunny is looking off screen. Moving the bunny to the left would help--especially where the horizon line contrast is higher (yes, this contradicts the earlier comment). Also, the ground doesn't really look like snow--looks more like asphalt. Not sure if that matters though...

I think this is what brianT was saying, but try moving the bunny to the left side, and flip him so he is facing inward.

Hey Barret, cool it man! He's just trying things out.. Not gonna hang it in his bedroom. Half the pictures on this site aren't wall worthy. It's a good try, and we all deserve to try stuff out.

not to be mean or anything
but think, would some one really hang that on their wall?

not to be mean or anything, but most of the pics in the photo threads are not made for hanging on the wall...

the blur in the background is making me dizzy, it's usually a good idea to add alittle noise and then blur and add alittle very little noise over that to really give it some substance. also the bg is soo dark that it it looks like two different pictures, it's cut off right in the middle that it's distracting, i think you should lighten that part.

Well thanks for the comments everyone. I decided to rework it a bit. I ended up reworking it alot and might have gone overboard. I am just trying stuf Barret but thanks for your opinion anyways, I would not put this on my wall much like a portrait of yourself.
This is an attempt to use random photos I had taken recently(not purpose shots for this piece) and make a surreal landscape. Simple landscape. There are about 7 different photos and 26 layers in this shot. I know that doesn't sound simple but compared to my more serious works it is. Once again this is not supposed to be perfect it's a photo-sketch.

I'll be honest.. the bricks thingy really destroys the picture, however the picture looks better than the one before, your wabbit's shadow is too strong for such a small lightsource.

Barret cool down. I want constructive critique. That means good and bad opinions. I want you to say you don't like something. BUT I want you to say why and give some thoughts on how to fix/adjust. But thanks or your photo I will put it on my wall in memorance of all those who did not want to participate in show and tell because they had nothing constructive to say(probly due to pooping in their pants). So I'm sorry Barret that you keep comming to these orums with poop in your pants. I hope some day you can sit clean and happy with the rest o the children.
Anyways, for all the grownups. I took out the bricks, lightened the shadows and cleared the color data. I thought all that were good ideas, thanks!

Daimwn that's a load better! I think that's the best so far.. Good job mate.. I love your comments about pooping/etc..
I must still remind you that with a lightsource that big, the shadow should be smaller.

Unless someone has a big beef(not barret) about this I'm going to leave it as is. Any more time and it won't be the small sketch it is supposed to be. Thanks for all your thoughts everybody.

@ Daimwn: Okay, let's talk about art a little. This pic seems better even if I prefer the first version (honestly). I think now you have to balance correctly the values. For example: the rabbit is the only area of pure white of the pic. The rest is a little too much under-expo for my taste. Plus it's an easy way to see that's a photomontage, you know. So, before put a shadow under the rabbit (lovely creature !), correct the other parts/area of your pic, by setting them for have the feeling of a same exposition. And not a patchwork ! We don't have that feeling on the first pic and I think that's the reason I like it. Okay, hope my english is fine, I work all night long for my first show at some art gallery.
Don't give up and keep posting, I keep an eye on you to see how's things progrees. Cheers.
Julien.

i giveup...

Daimwn, try raising the levels of black and gray on the bunny,
then it will look like it is actually standing in the picture and not on it
if you know what i mean.
