cool church-series! i like the last one the best. first i thought that the plywood and stuff at the bottom are distracting, but at a second look i really liked it. gives you that sad feeling that this church is closed to the public like an old supermarket. great photo!

Hey molly, nice galleria shot i like the escalaters or what ever they are. I want to visit that church too....i've only got two crits but they are te same... on the third and fourth pictures from the top, they both have tangents at the top. on the third...the top of the window might be to close to the edge of the image. and on the fourth, the tip of the building gets cut off, and my eye follows the top of the wall right up the roof and stops.
good new thread though.

Thanks! Utah often has really awesome picture opportunities because I go there to ski and in the afternoon when we are on our way down the canyon the sun sets over the mountains. It is so pretty.

Here are a few color pictures froma protest I was at today to take pictures for my school paper. However, the protest was very small. But here are a few.
Basically, in case you don't know, South Dakota just passed an anti-abortion law and now Missouri is trying to do the same.

BUTTERFLIES!
I went to my local butterfly house today. It was sooo amazing. They are so beautiful and not at all scared of people. Except the blue morho. I made it my goal to get a picture of one and the picture I got wasn't too great either. Here goes! All commments and crits welcome!

At Last- The Blue Morpho- It was on a leaf angled down and I couldn't have a long depth of field cuz I was using macro, so yea, its slightly out of focus.
It says B-17 because they track how long they live and are doing a longevity study.

Nice update Molly ! :) Sweet and cute ! Is it difficult to shoot butterflies ? Nice job. ;)
Cheers,
julien.

Thanks Julien! The hardest part about shooting them was the fact that they move their wings alot. Even when resting on trees and stuff. So, about 2/3 of my pictures ended up slightly blurry. Its not hard to find them landed tho because the butterfly house has so many butterflies. Its actually really cool. If you ever go to Saint Louis, Missouri (which for yoursake, I hope you don't), you should go there.

I can strike twice, if you want ! :P St Louis ? Hey ! That sound French ! [of course, it was an old french colony, am I correct ?]. Yeah, take pictures of animals is the hardest thing I know with photography. I was wondering if it was the same with insects...
Anyway, keep doing the nice stuff. I keep an eye on your thread.
Salut Molly !

ok, i just had a play around in photoshop. what i did was first select the eyes, and then i desaturated them (removed all colour) and then i was left with blaxk and white eyes. so then (keeping them selected) i manually controlled the levels and dragged the middle slider to make them darker.
i dont know if that explination helps, if not, i'll try again (i dont feel good :( )
anyway, heres what i got;

May 14th, 2006, 12:59 PM
Thanks!
Those trees are in the butterfly house that is climate controlled. We also have another building (owned by the same company) called the climatron that has banana trees.
Most of the pictures I've been taking have been of a little girl for whom I babysit, and other kids so I can't really post them. But I have some pictures from this week that I need to sort out and then I can post them.
