Trying to work with pastels I have no idea what I am doing...I sprayed it and I am going to work on it more tonight. Lemme know your thoughts. I put the source there as well. The source is like postcard size and I did it on 12 x 18 I think...something around that size.

i think the colors and pose are pretty spot on, but i'd like to see darker darks, and a little more red near the top - great work man :)

hey bean! good job! i agree with what adam said as well. you can push the values more. he (degas) may have worked on a toned piece of paper. you will have to work more on yours to get the saturation that will make this piece sing. you are on the right track, just not done yet.

Worked more on it tonight...lemme know what you think about the updates to it. Thanks for the comments and encouragement guys. My respect for Degas has grown so much while doing this...he was a true master.

I only have 8 nupastel sticks which are really hard to use but hey you make do with what you got right!

Good stuff! Nice improvement too!

Cool to see what you can do with these pastels... Does it take a lot of technique to do it?

hey Erik thanks man...I am relatively new to them myself but they seem basically like painting except you are mixing on the canvas instead of on a palette and then applying the color. They are great because you can spray it...then come back to it and basically start again if you wanted to. Try em out they are fun. You should be fine using them...I can't paint or draw worth crap but I can get around with them. If you try them out definitely post something.

Having vine charcoal there to darken things up slightly is nice too
