I do not have a large scanner, or a digital camera at the moment, So I will post what I can. I am new to art, but I am sure you will be able to tell that from the pictures ;)

These are some good attempts . The hands ... I think your best is the top right on the first sketchbook page you posted (of hands) . The others are a great start --- but really not that great anatomy/realism wise (for the hands at least ). In the one that is flicking us all off , I think it would be much better to add more "wrist" . You can see no form of wrist in this drawing ... Did you do these all from your own hands ?
My best advice I think , would look at the planes of the hands (thus the form) more closely. Don't let your shading just follow the curve of your arm as you move it across the page . Use direction to describe your object . Think about how lines can define form . If you use different directions of many lines , you can define a form or shape . If you use different directions of many lines , you can define a form or shape . This is only one style , but I suggest you try it to "introduce yourself" to this concept . Try using pens , and don't be afraid to make marks , or not being able to erase ... I'm giving this advice because with the hand drawings (especially the second two) it looks like you are shading from light to dark , regardless of underlying muscles .
Another thing you could try is just simply contour drawing ... with light shading . Get a few books to practice from if you haven't already , these will help you become introduced to new techniques as well as inspire you to try your own new ideas .
I know you're going to improve very quickly !! Have fun !!!

Welcome Jeremy H! I'll try and help all I can. In your second picture, the lady in the dress, her left breast points out too far and is too jagged. The anatomy on the face is off too. For the (I'm guessing) PS painting of it, it looks like you used the blur, smudge, etc. tools alot. Try to avoid that. Some great resources for PS painting on the forum are Digital painting in PS (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47859) and the more light/form oriented -The Peer Project Foundational Activities- (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=53517). The first page of hands looks good, but the thumb on the lower right hand is a little big. The second hand (the middle finger one) has too gradual of a curve from the hand to the arm, so it appears to have no wrist, and the foreshortening on the last hand is a little wonky, but some practice can fix that. I don't know enough about faces to say much about the prtraits, but the face in the third one is too short and the chin is pointed. Hope that helped, and keep posting!

Thanks soooo much guys!
A little advice will go a long way. I really appreciate you insights. When I look at these pics I can see that they are off, but I cannot quite say why. What you guys have pointed out makes it seem so obvious.
BTW, I used my own hand for the second and third hand pics (number 2 was hard to model without a mirror ;) ), and I used other sketches for the first one.
I will revisit these and see if I cannot address the things you both mentioned.
