This is my second color self-portrait. I was experimenting a bit with the color. Umm...all comments on this are very welcome. Thanks!

Do you think it's confusing to look at? Does it look flat? I wanted to keep it kind of loose.

it does look a bit flat. i would suggest working with larger brushes at first. so you don't have to see every stroke.

one reason it looks flat is because all the stokes are going in one direction ( like this: // /// // / / ///// )

which makes the viewer eye follow that, even though the colors are expression the forms so do the strokes.

Thanks davi! I didn't realize the brush stroke pattern would effect it so much. And I will check that subforum out.
