this movie looks cool

that scene a teh begginning where she drops down off eth ledge and hits teh ground and just starts walking was crazy---the reaction was kinda weird(physically) but they made it work
and the 1st action scene where she leaps across the room at us had a beautiful saturation to it color wise----looks like some serious eye candy in this one

It definitely has a very cool look and style. I dunno though; all the motion was like you said, lacking a lot of weight. Everyone is floating around like feathers, but it doesnt work in a very graceful way like it did in Crouching Tiger. Werewolves and Vampires demand supernaturally hard hits! So who knows. Not a commercial success to be sure, but will it be a cult classic?
Also I heard the story is Romeo and Juliet but with Vampires and Werewolves, which I find exceedingly dumb. I'm sure this movie will get my money, but I don't know if I'm going to be too happy about that :P. Curse my nerdy fanboyism!!!

whenever i see a trailer like this the story is the last thing on my mind--all i can think about is cinematography, color, costumes, action sequences----just the wannabe concept designer in me thinking how fun it would be to work on something like this
i cant tell wether it will be good or not---alot of people seemd to like blade 2 ---i though it sucked---the first half was ok then it turned into an un-entertaining wwf match

Heh. "Bladetrix." That's hilarious. This definitely looks like some White Wolf fans got their hands on a camera. But as much as I dig me some Vampires and will probably see this at some point... to quote Denis Leary: "How you guys doin? This is gonna SUCK!"
Ty, the scene you were talking about looks wrong because the physics are off. She's not going fast enough, and it looks like she actually starts to slow down before she hits the ground. But that did not make me laugh as much as the crappy matchmove in the first shot. Even in a preview the size of a quarter, I could see that eye jiggle. Doh! :)
Oh yeah, and the cg werewolves look... like cg werewolves.

yea they had a cg shot of the character falling--cut to a fig jumping off a 10 ft ledge witha wire cable and she gets up --and they cut to the ass shot---i still think they made it work
but good job on crushing my hopes and dreams tedsuo--thx!
I hope your happy

There there, Ty. I didn't mean to smack your puppy that hard. I'm uh, sure it won't be that bad. At the very least, there will be hot vampire chicks in leather. Mmmmm hot vampire chicks....
If that's how they did that shot, then it makes sense that it looks wrong. Someone jumping from ten feet would only be going about 16 ft/sec, where someone jumping from ten stories would be going 80 ft/sec. It's pretty minor, most people probably wouldn't notice (or care).
I think it's the basic problem of making people do superhuman things. Same thing with the guy running after the car. If they made him run the speed he was actually going, he would be pumping so hard he would look like speedy gonzales, it would look totally silly. So they have him run at a speed that "looks" fast, and then subtly slide his feet a bit between each frame to make him keep up with the car. It looks better, but will always look a little "odd" because... it is! The other option I suppose would be to have him take big leaping steps that launch him forwards more and actually match the speed of the car. But to do that you would need a cg stand in or some tricky wire stuff, and that would look odd for it's own reasons.
In the end the best thing to do is frame the shots in such a manner that these problems are minimized. They did a good job of that in the Matrix btw... okay now I'm really rambling.

Heh-heh. Don't hate me.
Does anybody know what song is used in the movie trailer? I can't place it and it's driving me nuts. Thanks.
