I did the pencils and inks about 6 years ago working for a failed movie company. I just found it, and decided to paint it. the problem I am having is my wacom is at work, and the image is at home, so i am stuck using a mouse to paint it. so far it is about 1.5 hrs. c n c plz.

day 2, 20 more minutes, I cleaned some lines around the head gear, worked on the mouth and chin. I am really trying to get decent skin tones, and eventually, lose the lines

I see now after looking at the two, I need to start desaturating the colors, and start using some kind of references.

Well, this is my last post for a bit. The next post, I will be a dad. My fiance is full term, and we are going to the hospital today. Wish us luck.
oh, yeah, version 4, without the lines, another 20-45 minutes of work...

here are some changes, tweaks, and variations I have done since my son was born. It's tough to get some painting time, and I am sure my fiance will be mad when I am slow and really tired from painting instead of sleeping (parents can understand this), but I just gotta paint a little.
Keeps the sanity within grasp.
Let me know what you think...

I've been watching the progress of this picture... it's coming out quite nicely. I love the cyborg feel of it. Keep em coming

thanks, akirproject86
got another, playing with more color, light, and just over all pallette.
I realized half way through version 5 I had no real light source, something I am always forgetting when I add color to my 2d peices. Funny, considering I really am more a 3d artist these days, and I consider lighting a bit more seriously.
this one, a direction I am liking so far, i am addin more values of the colors already present, and throwing them in other places. Some of it works, and some doesn't. Comments?

Nice progress ALM,
in the last one did you run it through a canvas filter or something?
it causes some tiling problems, and I don't think it adds anything to the image itself. you should concentrate on the face first.
congrats with the brat by the way!

its really progressing, i think it looks best with the light source infront of the face, gives it a good feel. other than that... i think its looking awesome.

Version 8 ( I think),
Some good things are beginning to happen with the skin, I am beginning to see where the light source will be most effective. When I drew the original, I was cranking like 3 versions of the character out an hour, so his head gear was more just bumpy detail. I have been making changes to make the cyborg parts a bit more believable as I go. Got some problem areas stilll, but not as bad.
I am still learning about using color as volume, but I am starting to get the idea. Now, all I gotta do is go back to color theory and re-learn the stuff I never took seriously.
R_M- yeah, your right about the texture. worked better in the line drawing but not in this painitng.
akirproject86- thanks.
