I traveled to an indoor garden in downtown Toronto for some floral pictures with my macro lens and these were my results:

P.S. i do realise that many of these photos have the subject in the dead centre - i did that on purpose in those cases. I took these photos with the intention of selling them in a photo show as decoration pieces, and i figured that in some cases the subject in the centre would do well. I know its a photography faux-pas but shhh. :p

really nice pictures!
you got an god eye :)

i think you could enhance the quality of some of the pictures
by using the rule of thirds
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=rule+of+thirds&btnG=Google+Search

I'm trying it out myself at the time being and I'm finding it very effective,

btw
maybe we should start an tread with different rules of composition?

really nice! number... *goes back and counts*... 14 is my favourite. i have to say that i often center the focus myself so a thread on composition would be really great, barret! :)

anyway, that macro-lense surely paid off, didn't it?! :)

These are beautiful. Great colors.

How large are you able to print these?

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Barret - i am very familiar with the rule of thirds, i was taught it in a media arts class two years ago, i decided to forget about it for some of these pics like i said in my original post. I would be interested in contributing to threads about the rules of compositions though!

And yeah Stine the new lens is great! I cant wait for spring to take more flower pictures - preferably ones where i dont have to use a flash like i did with these.

And Iiori the natural picture siz for all of these is 48.66 x 32. 44 inches at 72 DPI (or 123.62 x 82.41 cm)
I think they would print fine at that resolution because i printed another picture in its natural size at 72 DPI (it was from a different camera so smaller), but printing places seem to think it must be at 300 DPI at least - i could print these quite large still - they'll look more than fine at 12x18 inches.

Hey!
These are great. My only crit, is since the subjects of the images are so large, it might be more effective to have more in focus. I find the amount that is blurred slightly overwhelming. I like them alot.
